I like the stream line work flow of ST1 over Cubase,
But for me the Notation view/editing of Cubase, means I tend to do
Larger Orchestrations in Cubase. Also I love the Chord track, very useful.
MIDI is more in depth in Cubase, but I can get by in ST1 quite happily.
In short if/when ST1 incorporates notation editing, I will more than likely just use ST1.
I can't get on with rewire and Notion 4, although Notion 4 is excellent.
It sounds like you don't use the VST expression functionality at all.
Me - I like to have it all - so it made sense to own more than 1 DAW.
Not sure how you came to that conclusion from my above post....Lol....
But hey,, As it happens I have recently been getting into expression maps.
I have also just downloaded the Symphobia 1/2 maps from the Steinberg site,
And it is something else (expression maps) that I have started to like regarding Cubase.
Actually I do agree with the points in your post,
Both the Daws have excellent strengths.
I run both Studio One 2.6.2 and Cubase 7.5.

I hope this can get sorted - Phill is a long time friend of mine.
I twisted his arm to try the ST1 demo (His ride on the Sonar X series had been a bit bumpy)
He seems to be loving ST1 (demo) at the moment.
Plus he likes to spend money, so might as well throw it the way of Presonus.
Does the bundled version Studio Artist support VST other than host VST's these days ?
Just curious, and nothing else, as you mentioned Kontakt did not savage you monitors.
Sorry about the situation - I am sure you will find something that works for you.

Thanks, I just tried the Lite version but it's not very good. It sounds OK, but it's a barebones version with two settings and the legato doesn't sound real. Besides, it doesn't go past D4.
Of the "big boy libraries", which one is considered the best? Me being really new at this and based on the demos I've heard, I would put my money on Symphobia 2 based on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-KUlT8G3VM&hd=1. In fact I plan on getting it some day as soon as I can afford it.
Agreed the Lite version is limited - But I just use it (Sometimes) layered in with another library.
I have not used Symphobia, so no idea with that Library (although the demos sound great on the Project Sam site)
I have started buying from the Spitfire Audio company over here in the UK.
Because of the price I am buying bit by bit when I can afford it.
But to me ears, the libraries sound very nice.
