AudioBox USB » 48v noise...solved » Go to message
Hi
Just wanted to say I solved my 48v noise (whining whalenoise) with a better usb-cable with ferrritshielding (2 lumps in each end of the cable)
Seems like a common problem for usbconnections...

Studio One Free » Macro Toolbar, is it available for use? » Go to message
Hi

Can someone using the free version download and use the Macro toolbar ?

I have not been able to download it, so I'm guessing that I'm restricted from using it.

Thanks

For your further enjoyment (in case anyone is reading this) ....

I turns out that Studio One Free does in fact hang ... but after waiting five minutes it will finally ignore the loading MIDI engine point and the spinning rainbow beach ball ... and finally load. Again, not Studio One's fault at all!

I've purchased Studio One, did a fresh install and also have no presets. Using the installations choice you've outlined above, I'm told that it was fully installed. However, no presets occur in Presence nor in Impact - only Mojito appears to have some presets and patches. In fact, I installed everything and only see Native Instruments in my instruments area and that doesn't work as expected either.
Studio One Free » Cannot use built in audio port input » Go to message
Ok, so I am not using the built in microphone but the video help point me in the right direction. Creating the aggregate device was only part of the problem. S1 wants to see the input and output come from the same audio I/O device. So the virtual device as I like to call it needed to have the inputs selected from the built in input and outputs selected from the USB audio out. This allowed this virtual device to appear that it has both in and out. Studio One would then allow me to select this new virtual device and use the input and output of the separate devices.

note: if your using ASIO drivers you may be only able to use 1 device at a time, there are some workarounds available through a google search.

All obvious, but it does not show any inputs available from the Inputs tab. Its the 3.5mm analog jack I want input from but apparently PreSonus does not know this can be configured for in or out or does not check in their code.

Yes, under the Studio One menu, select Studio One Installations...

From there, click Install Content from Presonus user account, and install both packets, for everything.

This is a bit counterintuitive, since one doesn't need a user account to download the free content.

Hope that helps!

Hello.

I downloaded and installed Studio One Free without a problem. Then I started the program and created an empty song.
After that i created an Instrumen Track and dragged the Presence sample player from the right pane into the track. Everything
felt ver easy and intuitive. However, when I tried to load a sound into Precence there was no content. I clicked the the arrow in the
field that reads default in the upper left corner and the default text changed to "no presets". Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Does the VSL1818 keep working/functioning when the usb to the computer is disconnected ?
In other words, can i use my laptop to set a specific task in the VSL1818, and then disconnect the usb,

I can't really find anything aboout that in the specs..!
Does anyone know ?

markyeldham wrote:Hi Telemurph,

Thanks for the advice and words or encouragement. I guess there is a little frustration creeping in there and re the compression I have a read a few articles including the great compression guide on the Presonus site. I'm not a stupid guy and normally I pick things up so quickly but I'm really struggling to get my head around using the compressors in S1 properly. I understand the basic principles and while I'm getting reasonable results I'm just not acheiving the results I need - I know it's not my equpiment or S1 - I guess it's just like everything else with Music - knowing the theory is one thing but having the experience and know how to put it into physical practise is another matter and as with most of us home/bedroom studio enthusiasts - I guest I'm trying to learn in days and weeks what it has probably taken experienced engineers many years to properly master and understand?

This is actually a very common theme... The good news is: This isn't theoretical physics! With some study and trial and error (and a great set of ears) you should have no trouble getting the results you want. There's just no substitute for experience and tenacity

The Eureka is a fantastic piece of kit, although I am with Talmen when it comes to gear (I'm a convicted gear-head, albeit a frugal one). There's no sense in just throwing gear at a problem. Make sure you do the necessary research and seek out other folks that are in the know (such as what you're doing now and make your gear purchase based on what you know for certain!

Good Luck and happy music making!

Cheers,

Jason
