Hi all, My problem was whener I changed the ASIO buffer size I would get pops and clicks which I couldn't remove until I re installed the driver. So far it appears to have fixed this issue so all is good again.

Hello everybody,
First of all, sorry for my english (I'm french), if there are grammatical errors...
I'm reading many threads since 2 days about pop and clicking noizes during record or playback functions.

I've used the 1818VSL with my laptop MSI (Win7 64 bits / usb2 / 8go ram...) during a long time without any problem. Never !

I recently bought a MS Surface Pro 128 Go, and it would be very appreciate if someone could explain what the root cause is ?

=> USB 3 ?
=> Windows 8 (64bits) ?
=> both ?

For sure, I tested this last Public Beta Driver, and there is absolutely no amelioration. One time, it generated a full "freeze" with all meters blocked at a full level of volume !!... Very strange and disturbing

By reinstalling the previous "official driver, it seems not appears BUT pop and clicking noizes are still present.
I can't use this sound card in this state.

I'm looking for a workaround solution by make a dual-boot Win7/Win8 on this new machine ... Not easy !! (EFI/Bootloader... etc.)

So, before spending (again) a lot of time... if someone could give me element of answers...

Many thanks in advance.

I think the problem might be USB 3. Do you have a USB 2 hub? It might be worth running the hub into your USB 3 port and have your 1818 into the hub. Not sure if that would work but I would try it.

I'm sure there will be some better suggestions coming.

Good luck.

Thanks for your quick answer !

The 1818VSL is connected to my Hub USB 2.
I've tested without the power suppy of the hub... idem... The problem persists.
There is like a "scratch background sound" all the time.

Modifying the sample rate or other ASIO prefs will just change a little bit, the kind of this permanent noise.

I'm very disappointing about this problem! It seems that there is no good solution.

Did someone has succeed by connecting it to a usb 3 machine only (chipset core i5 ou i7)? Or is it absolutely necessary to use an usb hub 2.0 in this case ?
Because, it don't work on my side, even if I tried with this.

Audio box public beta does not work for me win7 64 bits. Pops and cracks still there. Is it necessary to have service pack 1 for this? II do not have Service pack 1
I like and admire software people who develop sequencers and i also like people who sell it.

Something strange is happening with me. Public Beta Driver fixes completely the problem related to clicks and pops of 1818 val, BUT I've got no headphones and also cannot see the control panel. I can even see the info about the driver but no control panel...I am using Lion

No SP1 here either. Shouldn't be necessary.

Control Panel is on a PC, you stated you are using Lion... so... what are you referring to exactly? The System Preferences window or the actual AudioBoxVSL app?

Ops...Sorry...I meant the Audiobox Vsl App. The sound now is perfect with public beta but I've got no headphones. No monitoring. However it is possible to send the audio to the headphones in Logic, routing through it. But is no big deal..

Did you make sure that when you connect the 1818vsl, it is selected as the sound input and output in the System Preferences / Sound panel?

Also that your inputs are routed to outputs 7/8 in the vsl app?

If all else fails, try re-installing the beta drivers again.

It's been a year since the beta driver came out. When is there going to be a final driver that fixes all the issues?
Thanks

Ran my audiobox1818vsl for 2 weeks for presenters. Clicks and pops all over the place. Upgraded to the beta. considerable improvement, but still got the odd click and pop after a while - so it hasn't fixed it for me either. Note that this isn't even recording, its purely as a live mixer.

The laptop I'm running doesn't have USB 3.0, its running windows 7 32bit. wasn't doing anything intensive - only running 4 channels at any one given time, but the pops/clicks occurred when only 1 channel was being output (the other 3 were muted).

will we ever see this fixed? Can it be fixed?

Going to do more testing, but if i'm having this problem with 4 channels i'd hate to think what would happen with 16.....
