With this console, no. Or, not drastically anyway.
All the venting the SL-24 needs is side-to-side air flow.

Other consoles I've done recently (an LS-9 specifically) has a
intake fan on the left rear. I advised them to put filter foam in front of it and monitor it closely. The fan could vacuum the dirt the bottom of the doghouse naturally collects and end up in the intake and all through the board.

The slick side of my doghouse material of choice (RIGA) was used as the bottom of their doghouse so they could blow it clean with compressed air. That customer was an AV group (primarily) so they shouldn't see too much dirt, just dust from those dry ballrooms.
Some consoles draw quite a bit of air (Yamaha PM's, Midas's) from fans on the back panel and the doghouse has to be fairly loose in dimensions to afford that fan draw.

The SL-24 doghouse can fit very tight.

Here's my case. Above the Mac Mini there's a storage for the tft screen. Hope you like it.

I'm definitely thinking of one with a doghouse, and room for my Mac mini etc. You guys should check out the Bluetooth Mac mouse & keyboard. They are pretty slick.

I'm thinking a case to hold both, because when my band plays, the board sits on top of the amp racks. This way there's room for everything with a good solid base.

As soon as I can decided how I am going to link the dog house to the rack below, I am starting construction on a new doghouse/case for the SL24.4.2.

I would like to go multi pin into the rack below. I am probably looking at 38 pairs (24 inputs, 10 aux, 2 L/R, 2 AUX Returns. That covers the bulk of my normal stuff. I am OK patching an insert now and then. The Whirlwind MASS connectors are pricing - can't justify the cost for the number of jobs I do. DSub is out. I am leaning towards the harting connector. Anyone have a recommendation on where to purchase from?

The case was made by Road Cases USA in Long Island - interior dimensions are 44 in x 32 x 10in. Cost w/ shipping was $449. There is a 12 1/2 inch space right of the mixer, that will either fit my MacBook Pro, or if I go the route of a previous poster, a LCD screen that can fold up/down, with a Mac Mini in the doghouse.

I'll probably go the Mac Mini in the doghouse with the LCD display.

(split in the mixer is where the 16.4.2 would end)

I'll post as construction begins.

I wish. It fits in the back of a pickup truck nicely. But... not the Honda Civic.

A version for the 16.4.2, could def. be trimmed down to be car friendly.

I am interested to see if/how many complaints I get from clubs/venues when I roll this in (we work alot in the same rooms, weddings/medium size bar/clubs without house systems). While its not THAT much bigger it looks giant. As it is I get some grumblings about the Gator G-MIX 20x30 case. Hopefully the "high tech looking bells whistles" will distract from the extra space I am taking up. ha. right.

A SL24 can fit. I made my case a bit smaller (see my post on the first page of this topic).
This case fits in our VW Touran (with the backseats in place!):

I can put my laptop on the lid of the dog house.

For me, I want to have the mixer/comp sit on our power amps when my band plays. This way it's a complete unit, all in one, slick...

I just want to report to those here that the Gator GMIX-2225-8 case does not easily fit the SL24.4.2. I realize that simple measurements will verify this, but It originally was one of the ones that Gator's website recommended. Now, that has been changed to reflect the GMIX-3828-8. (Interesting recommendation as that case is giant for the SL24.4.2) This may have initially misled some people.

I didn't get a case like many of those in this thread because it would defeat the purpose of buying this console for me. I wanted a suitcase-like setup that was as light as possible. I had to modify the Gator GMIX-2225-8 by removing the strip of lined foam padding on the front/bottom of the case. The console is literally like an inch from fitting perfectly inside the bottom tray of this case, and this modification allowed it to slip in easily with very little residual movement. I didn't bother doing anything slick, exact, or aesthetically pleasing. Those with more industrious and artistic talents (and patients) would likely have come up with something far better than my box-cutter hack job.

Removal of this portion of the interior protection of the case is not a big deal for me, as the case will never rest with that part facing down when I transport it. That's actually where the big beefy top handle is for carrying it like a suitcase. And like I said, it's still tight enough to where it doesn't move around much in there.

All in all the case works for my purposes, but I just wanted to advise others that it may not be satisfactory for them. Also, when I was at Infocomm, I spoke with a PreSonus rep and voiced my need for just such a case. They mentioned that they had already spoken with SKB at the show and a purpose built unit is coming. Not sure how true that is, but sounded legit at the time. (makes sense, at least). If so, the Gator will be my interim case until something better comes.

Hay carcrusher why don't you post the price of your standard case in ABS. I think most will find the price is in line with the cheep cases but this one is as good as it gets. It will protect your sl24 and look good doing it. Oh yea, and it has big handles.....
After all is said and done it just needs to protect our stuff..

I'll put prices and pics on my website.
There are three versions of the case:

The basic case has a "back porch" behind the console for cable storage and protection.
It has the option of a caster board attached to the lid if needed. It is 30x30x10.
It protects the console against normal road vibration and absorbs 5g impacts in all directions.

The 'luggage" version has a pull-out handle and 2 wheels on the lower-rear edge.
That case has a 1" deeper tray to accommodate the handle assembly and caster housings. It is 30x30x11.
It protects the console against normal road vibration and absorbs 5g impacts in all directions.

The "deluxe" version is 4" deeper to allow fitment of a doghouse. The doghouse's are mostly
custom designs to meet particular customer needs, built from 1/2" russian birch. The weigh of the
case goes up a bit with a doghouse so a caster board is recommended on this case.
It protects the console against normal road vibration and absorbs 5g impacts in all directions. It is 30x34x10.
Those dimensions are subject to change depending on the doghouse design. The doghouse is approx. 8" deep
with a folding lid and back panel that folds completely out of the way with a slick 3 hinge design.

I am 4 weeks and counting on my case from Brady Cases for the 24.4.2, and hope to see it this week. Carrying a $3K mixer around in cardboard is a worrysome enterprise...

While still looking through the various ads and auctions, I came across a case made in Austin, Texas specifically for the 24.4.2, with six rack spaces where you can see them (a plus for cd players and LCD screens) and room for the snake in the bottom so it stays wired at the mixer end and looks neat with the back door closed. I couldn't download the pictures on ebay, but here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140604117118&category=3278&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619

I wish I'd have seen this earlier. Starting bid (and likely the ending bid) price is $799, which is pretty good considering most standard ATA cases are running $400-600. What makes me really like this is seeing rigs being built specifically for the StudioLive 24 channel board, which has been a rarity so far. Glad to see that changing!

Well I got my case from carcrusher, and it is everything that he promised it would be. My PS 24 fits like a glove, and it's built for pro-use. So I would like to toss my approval out there for supporting Dan and his quest to deliver the best quality product for the best price.

In addition, I have added my own mod's to the case with this removable doghouse that I constructed out of plywood, and the same extruded aluminum that Dan uses for the top half of his cases. Here are some pic's...
