Here are some options for us to choose from:

This one I pulled from this thread. There are a bunch of examples there of what the song sounds like and the links are below:

  • "Dog Eat Dog" by the band Panda Thief:

  • This one is a much more polished tracking job so it's a relatively "easy" song to mix.

  • This one I pulled from this thread. It's basically a metal song.

  • "Heavy Metal Song"

  • And another from here.

  • "MixProject"

  • And this last one is a project that Sound on Sound did as part of their "Mix Rescue" article that they publish monthly. Download the second zip file with the project and raw untreated files. This comes as a Reaper project, but the wavs are all in there. As a bonus, to those that use Reaper you can see what the SOS guys did to the track.

  • "Clarity of Sound" by Axel Ermes.

  • And here are a bunch of mixes from another forum, I haven't had a chance to hear all of them yet.

  • Various Mixes

  • I have a lot of other songs that are essentially genre copies of the above tracks. The only songs I can't seem to find many of are songs in the pop, soul genre. If anyone else here has any of their own songs that they could "donate" to the cause of learning please don't hesitate to let us know. Post in the thread with that your vote for a song to work on is and I'll make a new thread for the "Group Mix" that we can work that specific song in. Thanks!!!

Sorry to respond to my own thread but for the record I would recommend Dog Eat Dog (since one mix of it was done already in the other thread).

Or the Sound on Sound tracks because they're a different genre from the last mix we did.

If anyone has any tracks they've found that they think might work feel free to pile them onto the list!

I'll give this one more shot, I know we're all busy over the holidays so I'm not surprised things are a little slow around here. Anyone interested?

    Greetings Gizzmo!

First, let me apologize for dropping out of the Studio One "chatroom" rather abruptly, after we had met a few times. The software I was using was a trial version (which I didn't know), and it expired just when I realized I didn't have the time for it anymore, anyway. Nice we're still "meeting" in here ...

On topic: Thank you so much for taking the effort to search for all those multitracks! I noticed them just when I thought I needed some more mixing practice after being busy with some of the many other aspects of music production. I'm going to jump right in with some of them. I already started a rough mix of Dog Eat Dog (which is pretty cool), but I'll need plenty time to finish anything.

In my very personal opinion you should start dedicated threads (in the "Made in Studio One" or "Listen to this" sections, maybe?) for all the songs you found. So instead of taking votes everyone interested could download their preferred song easily from the respective first post (which should also include a rough mix if available), and as time goes by people could add their versions.

Every now and then a little bump might be needed, but I for one would certainly add all those threads to my favorites to come back to whenever I find the time.

Just a thought or two ...

If Dog Eat Dog is good I'll make an official Group Mix #2 thread to post the results into...
