Nearly unbelievable ... but I got it running. YES!

Thanks to Jonathan and Thomas for their support.

I needed to delete all my settings (thefiles) in the folder - except the license file:

on XP: C:/Documents and Settings/"Your Name"/Application Data/PreSonus/Studio One

There are two files that refer to either plugins or vstplugins. When they were gone S1 was able to recognize my GR LE. Cool! I then re-imported my former settings back into this folder was ready to go.

I re-installed all my GR version (GR3 XE and GR 4 Essential) and now I'm able to use GR 4 Essential inside S1 Artist (of course itshows up as "Guitar Rig 3" in the plugin browser - no problem for me.

Now I got S1A, ezd plus several add on kits, GR4 Essential and Kore Player with a lot of sound packs including some commercial ones like Sax&Brass and Session Strings. Nearly all that I need for creating music. I would have been glad if the NI Berlin Grand (that I recently purchased) had been showing up in Kore Player but it seems it doesn't. Not that great issue.

Summary: People who are interested in S1A should have a closer look on it. It delivers a lot.

So I have been reading up on this situation, it seems you have found a solution finally.. i feel exhausted just reading these 5 pages .. cant imagine how you fealt. Anywho.. before i go and start deleting things in my appdata folder which i found the presonus folder sitting there, can you be alittle more specific to what folders you deleted . there are quite a few on here. Thanks.

Ah, finally someone noticed my success! Nice! I thought I had to be happy all by myself.

Here's a screenshot:

First I deleted ALL the files inside this folder. Then Guitar Rig was succesfully recognized by S1A ... but all my settings (i.e. my keyboard shortcuts) were set to default. So I re-imported my files in to the folder again (without the plugin-related files of course) and I was done.

So, my suggestion is that you should delete the files I highlighted on the right and it should be OK. S1A should then re-scan the plugins and detect Guitar Rig as well.

But here's another question for the Presonus support:
Why is it necessary to re-name the Guitar Rig 4 dll (to "Guitar Rig 3")? Shouldn't wen be able to use this plugin not matter which version it is? I mean ezd works ... why not Guitar Rig?

Cheers Jens

That Guitar Rig thing is probably a licensing issue. GR 3 was licensed with S1 and not GR 4. You will have to pay to upgrade the NI versions, so I'm assuming it has something to do with that.

Who will have to pay?

I for myself DID already pay for my GR4 version. You mean Presonus have to pay for it?

PreSonus has licensed Guitar Rig 3 for distribution with S1. If they wanted to ship GR4 they would have to re-license GR from NI. As this is a new version, not an update. It doesn't matter which version you have personally, from the licensing point of view at least.

Yes, that was my guess as well.. But anyway ... there IS a workaround for using even v4. That's OK and S1A is from my point of view an interesting product - be it for newbies or ambitioned users.

You are my savior! I have been beating my head on my midi drum kit all day. Your solution worked for BFD2. I renamed it Guitar Rig 3.vst and it worked. So frustrating they purposely jerry rigged their own software to suck when it is clearly capable of using vst.

I know I am positing this on the presonus forum and there for they will easily find this information and further make it harder to use vst on their artist version of their software, but I implore them; don't make it harder on musicians who have a hard enough making ends meet and making music that will most likely never get them paid enough money to make a living. Will the world ever stop exploiting our creativity? Probably not.

It not jerry rigging, this has been made clear from the start. Acting as PreSonus tricked you or has committed something terrible is a bit of nonsense, if you ask me. It was clear from the beginning Artist only supports the included plugins.

Just be grateful they didn't plug this little 'workaround'.

Yes guitar rig opens in studio one artist.. The plug in was lost in the jungle of computer folders so now when i reloaded third party plugins i carfully watched where the plug ins were and it was there in c-program files vst plugins and it then fluently went to the effects.
I think we must do the installation very carefuly and watchfuly

I like and admire software people who develop sequencers and i also like people who sell it.

You are not supposed to drag the dll into S1. You need to add the directory in the list of locations for VSTs in the Options menu. Then do a scan. The instruments should show up in the instrument tab. If you use Artist you are not able to use 3rd party plugins other the the ones provided. Producer and Professional support 3rd party VSTs and AUs.

No, as mentioned before and as you can see in the comparison chart between the three versions, only Producer and Professional come with AU, VST2, VST3, and ReWire support.
http://studioone.presonus.com/what-are-the-versions/

So, to get 3rd party VST support you'll have to upgrade to Producer or Professional!
