Due to the majority vote of ::drum roll:: two people in the initial thread for the first group mix we'll be working with:

"Outpost" by the band Panda Thief

The original thread is here and the band put the song up for mix by all who wanted so no worries about copyright or anything crazy (unless you try to steal the song and make money in which case you're just a jerky-jerk-jerk )

So if you want to give it a go with me and the one other person that responded, download the files and mix the song with the S1 plugins so we can share the mix and see what we all did!! (Note: You don't have to use only the S1 plugins, but if you want to share your project file that's the best course so that we can all see the same thing. Freeware plugins are cool also, just note which ones you used so others can get them if they want to.)

As mentioned in the other thread I recommend box.net, dropbox.com and/or Soundcloud for hosting the files because we can all just listen to the songs via link that way. I'll collect the mixes in this post as they roll in...or trickle in...either way.

Note: Pick up this notepad VST and take notes on the tracks (just add it to your track) as you mix, then we can all see what was going on in your crazy heads at the time.

Hope to see ya'll's' mixes!!

Got the tracks into S1. Pretty catchy tune. I'm just in the process of getting levels set. It takes me a bit as I'm not a professional and more of a hobbyist.

One question, are we restricted to strickly S1 plugins? I have some pretty good Waves that I'd like to use...

Maybe I'll video it while I mix it... Might be entertaining.

Just download it and mix it! If you want to use only S1 plugs and share your project file all the better. Or if you just want to have at it with whatever you want to use, excellent also.

That would be awesome. The whole point is to learn from others. So I might do the same thing as well!

Awesome work gents. I'm out of town so I don't want to comment until I can listen to them on my monitors, but on my laptop speakers they sound good. And it's interesting to hear the differences between the mixes.

Upload your zipped project if you want to share so others can see.

Ack. My mix sucked so I pulled it. I'll have to actually go in the studio to mix this if I plan to participate in this thing.
