Hi,

Just got my studiolive24. Hooked everything up. Loaded all the software. The mixer is telling me that there are no connected devices. Studio 24 has no drivers installed as I can see. Yes, I can make the windows drivers work but so what? I tried asio for all but it only uses the WDM drivers. How the heck can I get studio one to work. Where are the drivers? My Belkin F5U623-APL card is working and recognized.

I hope I did not make a mistake. I was going to by the Tascam and everybody talked me out of it. I never had any problems with other asio stuff. My Motu 2408 runs seamlessly.

What am I doing wrong???? I called tech support twice and twice went to voice mail after 30 minutes. It seems that when I called for pre sales questions they answered right away.

Please someone help. I hate to wait the whole weekend until I can speak to anyone.

When you say the mixer is telling you no connected devices, I'm not sure what you mean. When you say you can make the windows drivers work, work in what?

What software was installed? From where? We can probably get you up and running, but will just need to fill in some of the blanks. I dont think you made a mistake in your purchase, we just have to troubleshoot to see if anything was missed.

I should have said that windows sees the board when it is plugged by beeping that it recognizes a device. On one of the pages of the mixer's LCD it says "no connected devices". My machine is telling me that the firewire board is in fact there in the device manager, and operating properly. There are no ASIO drivers that were put on during the software installation. Although your software installation looks good it is not very helpful telling you what problems are there. Believe me I know about good installation scripts. At Bell Labs and them at ComvaultI actually wrote install programs for HP OpenView and the Commvault line of products. I've also written patch editors for Voyetra so I am really familiar with software and how to prevent myself from stepping on my foot. That is not to say I don't step on my own toes but it is really frustrating when I waited a total of 2 hours for their 30 minute wait's (that should be eliminated). No matter how cute that voice tries to make you feel it actually stinks.

My Music machine is off for now but one of the error messages that are given when I start the program is Guitar (something) has no drivers retry or cancel. I'm pretty sure that VST or something else is from your installation but I could be wrong.

What brings in ASIO drivers for firewire? That I think is the main problem. The WDM drivers work with the product but no firewire. On the same machine I had ASIO drivers for the MOTU 2408. They came with the software and installed and worked flawlessly.

I don't know what more I can tell you about why but if you need more information just tell me. I really expected it to be a no brainer to install drivers and get it working. The mixer right now is a boat anchor and being that I have too many scores to finish I will probably go back to the MOTU. I believe if the firewire ASIO drivers were working I'd be up and running.

The drivers for the firewire hookup are in the universal control software, did you load that? Best practice is to download that software from your my presonus account, not the cd that came with the mixer. There have been revisions since the board was packaged for retail.

The no devices connected i believe references rmote control devices like an ipad or ipod, not referring to the pc. There are many articles on the knowledgebase regarding troubleshooting the installation to also help.

When you get back into it, try this. Disconnect the board from the pc. Do that with everything powered off. Power up the pc, download universal control ( register the board in your account if you dont see it), and install uc. Power off the pc. Power up the board and let it fully initialize. Connect the firewire, and power up the pc. Let the pc take control of the board, then open uc/vsl and see if the board is recognized.

If I can I will try in the morning. If it doesn't work right away I'll have to go back to the old system temporarily, I have some charts to finish over this weekend. I was hoping to do it with the new board. But I should have expected hic ups.

Thanks,

Hey Steve,

One thing I would also do is make sure you have the latest firmware in the new board. I received two brand new mixers and they both needed firmware upgrades.

Its a wonder sometimes what a firmware upgrade will do! :

Hope this helps......

Hi,

My firmware on the mixer says 1.048.34 How do I download the new firmware? I have all the revs of Universal Control from the website. Which ones should I use. The documentation about firmware is a little sparse. Most likely it is in the Universal Control software but I'm suspicious in that none of the revs of UC is 1.048.34

HELP.....

I dont have a board so i cant see what shows up for downloads , but usually the latest versions of software are in your account. You usually have to go to an archive to download prior versions. I believe you have to have the board connected to the pc to upgrade the firmware, but that may be the non ai boards i am thinking about.

If you didnt load any version of uc, start with that in the method i described earlier.

the drivers are telling me that the firmware is up to date. I just can't seem to get any sound out of the speakers. There is something I did not do. I set the Presonus driver to 44.1 and studio 2 should say the same but it says that it is the wrong sample rate. I closed the program and re-opened it after changing to 48 and it still will not play.

The windows sounds are playing to the board to my speakers very low. I have to start a bit of reading now. ANy suggestions I would appreciate.

Windows sounds? That may be (part of) your problem. Windows sounds are known to reset the sample rate. You want to disable them.

Come to think of it, disabling windows sounds is part of the Windows optimizing routine. Here is where you can find the instructions.

Make sure you optimize your system as advised. When you open studio one, from the start page, go to configure audio devices, and make sure that firestudio is the selected audio device.

However, in order to avoid any frustration in getting this up and running, i would finish your project on the other system and take your time getting the sl up and running. There is a bit of a learning curve in terms of routing, etc that arent there with a basic interface. Better off taking your time with that. Fwiw

Hi TJ,

OK, Thanks for the help. I'm almost there. I turned off all sound drivers and reinstalled the Universal Control and sound is now coming out of the mixer over the firewire YEAH.......

I still have another issue in that the ARIA player seems only to work with 48Khz. That's not too bad for now. At least I can finish the project. That was painful but mostly I did it to myself.

Right now the only channels being sent to is channel 1 and 2. This is including the sample songs in Studio 2. I'm sure it's something I have to do. I also found that I have to have the Direct button pressed on 1 and 2 to get the sound. Again. I think it is a configuration issue.

Any help you can give me to go forward or to point me to I would really appreciate. Thanks so much for getting me up and running. I'm back at work arranging
