Hello
I recently upgraded to a Win8.1 64bit computer. Studio One 2 Pro installed flawlessly.

I installed Toontrack and it performs flawlessly.

I installed Garritan Personal Orchestra and Dimension Pro but S1 cannot or will not find them.

I went to Options and specified the paths pointing to the vstplugins folder but still no joy. Any hints, or clues I might be missing?

Thanks

A few quick things to check:

Are you looking on the instruments tab in the browser? Sometimes I have instruments show up as VST's, did you check in effects too?

Any chance you are running 64bit S1, and looking for 32bit instruments?

Hmm...
Not an exhaustive list of things to try but...

1. Are you absolutely sure that you're on the correct path (that you're not a folder off?).
2. There's a button to push on the window when adding vst, instrument paths called "Reset Blacklist"
I believe this gets S1P to re-read the paths while running.
3. Sometimes the dll file is needed in the path... this may be in the instruments' installed folder.
4. Restart S1P.
5. Restart your PC.

Hello
Thanks for the reply,
S1 2 Pro is definitely 64bit, and I am certain Dimension Pro is 32bit, since it's fairly old and Ive been using it on a Win XP.

I just found this fix for Win 7 I want to try when I get home.

As for Garritan, I am not sure, but it may be 32bit as well, I got it last year off of Amazon for cheap.

Not sure if you know this, but you can install the 32 bit S1 on the same PC. It does not count as another activation (activations are machine specific, not based on how many installers you download). Many people will use a 32 bit instrument, reder it to audio, then open the same song in 64bit to continue working. Personally, I still master in 32bit. I have a few 32bit plugs I like to use that don't respond to JBridge too well.

Oh matthew I did not know that.

I may try that if all else fails. Frankly, if I could get Dimension Pro to work I would call myself happy with that, its been a part of my production suite for years since my Cakewalk days and I have many songs that use some instruments from it.

I haven't done much with Garritan except some piddling and twiddling and could live without it if necessary

Ok I got Dimension Pro working

I am new to Win8.1 and there are two Program file folders now,
one for 32 bit and one for 64bit

Part of the install went into one that was the default into the Program Files (x86) and when it asked I put the other part into... Program Files, which is the 64bit.

After uninstalling and re-installing into the 32bit vst folder, still wouldn't work.

I had to find and install Dimension update 1.2 and then update 1.5. Now a skull and crossbones appears during loadup, but the Instrument is there and I can add it to a track and load presets ok. So Im not sure what to do about the skull n crossbones

I haven't worked on Garritan yet.
Thanks for the pointers

One point of interest, I have the Presonus Firepod, the one before the FP10 I bought in 2004, and a SL 16.4.2 it all Works fine

One more question, anyone know of a fix for the EMU xBoard 49?

what do you mean by a fix for xboard? i have the 49 and it works fine so far but there is no profile for it... you have to create one as a generic keyboard.

Hello jBranam
Glad to hear yours is working, it gives me hope
A generic keyboard? Please elaborate.

In Studio One I chose the default option for EMU keyboard.

For me I believe it is a power issue, the 49 goes to sleep and never wakes up again. I will come on momentarily when I first boot up and then shut off.

I have already changed the power options in WIN 8.1, and for hardware I have gone into device manager and set all the USB root hubs and turned off the "Allow Computer to Turn off Device" under the Power Management tab.

I have even plugged it into an adapter to provide its power.
So far none of this has worked. The 49 will not appear anywhere, and it is a functional board, I still use it on my old computer.
