i am wanting to do one of our old band's songs... it is a cover and was ALWAYS the first song on our sets for any show... just to get people's attention. it AlWAYS worked... people stopped what they were doing and took note. it was a great feeling and what i loved most about playing out. i just want to do this song again for my own enjoyment. i have BFD3 but i suck at drums... everything i create sounds like it should be played alone, should be in a marching band (remnants of my Trombone days) or is very primal. i am seeking a drummer that has an eKit to do a midi drum track for me. it ain't got to be perfect... but correct and only a drummer can do this i think. i have even tried to find drum sheet music and convert over to midi to no avail... so i am asking you guys in hopes someone can help me out. i would give you full credit if i were to do anything with it... but i only do things for my own enjoyment.

here is the tune: Iron Maiden Losfer Words (instrumental)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=3kLafYgKCTU

it ain't for the squeamish... we NEVER did anything easy. since i have BFD3... it really don't matter what drum software mapping you use... it does not HAVE to be GM... i already have all the most common and widely used key mappings for playback. thnx

i DID find a few midi files of the song but the drum track was BAD... real BAD!

here is one of them if anyone wants to take a stab at it. you can use this to play along to if you wish. as long as the drum track is in midi format.... then tempo doesn't really matter and can be fixed before bouncing to audio.

if you knew the history... you would know this is a major thing for me to ask for a drummer. it is kinda my own therapy to try and put things behind me.

our drummer committed suicide in our old band room. and since then i have NOT been able to play with anyone. i rarely even let people hear my stuff. i am trying to open up... and this is an attempt at doing so. any help would be appreciated. cheers!

I can probably offer the services of a real drummer. The guy just likes to play, so I could probably work something out. I have a few projects coming up, so if you are looking for something fast it may not be a fit. I could get you audio tracks, and I could also use either Melodyne or transients to translate to midi. However, his kit sounds outstanding. Maple Ludwig, with a 20x24 cannon of a kick drum.

What style of music is it? PM me if you are interested. If you have a couple songs maybe would could drop a few down for you in one session. He works for beer so the price is right.

Be advised, the drum tracks may come back with a heavy Northeast accent.

j,
I'll give this a try. But it may be a while! I have my first ever midi controller coming any day now from Amazon. I'll have to find an appropriate soundfont/soundset (or whatever), and figure out how to even use the device. I have the original song in a track in Studio One, so that I can try to approximate the original drums. Hopefully, if I ever get something that sounds decent, I'll let you know. As of right now, I really don't know which software I'll use. And by the time I finish, somebody else will probably have the bill filled. But if so, that's cool, because I'll learn a bunch just by attempting this. And, once I start a music project, I tend to get very determined.

So, if anybody else is working on this, do not skip out....it may be a looong time until I get anything good done. But I'll try!

oh this ain't for production dave... it is for me. and i would gladly accept your attempt also and i would much appreciate the effort. but trust me ... it ain't an easy task. it may be easier for you to import that midi file i posted and even play along with that crap drum track to help you. that way if you do it in midi you can slow it down. and sorry i forgot about your new stuff that is coming. producer i think has komplete elements with it and it has abbey road 60s drum kit if i am not mistaken. plus i am sure there are some kits in the exchange you can add to impact which is S1s sampler drum plug. i have no idea on how to set that shit up though.

again i am in no rush for this other than i just want to do it. cheers

Yeah, I really believe you that it won't be easy. And, I'm completely klueless on the kontact stuff. I think I'll start off trying to use Ignite. I've developed my own methods of workflow and editing in that program, and I like the drum sounds. Once I get something that I ~think~ sounds okay, I'll post a wave file (so you'll hear what it sounds like with whatever drum kit I choose). In the mean time, I'll PM you a link to a song I recorded, using Ignite for the drums. I'll never remotely compare to Iron Maiden....not even the same universe. But I've heard worse!
