After years of trouble free service, my little Firebox went haywire in the middle of a session tonight. I have the gain controls turned all the way down and phantom power off, and I'm still getting a signal - a very hot signal, like, hot enough to peg my meters and distort. I switched settings on two different condenser mics and made sure I didn't have a gain plug-in engaged, but what am I getting a signal at all with the phantom power turned off? I'm recording in Logic. The same thing happens in another song. I looked at the Firebox mixer and controls and nothing is different than it was the last time I recorded some audio tracks, two days ago.

I unplugged it and plugged it back in. I restarted the computer. No dice.

Is my Firebox dead? or has someone out there seen this sort of thing before?

Thanks,

Andy

Weird... I have a firestudio mobie. The other night while doing a mix down of a pretty process intensive song, my meters suddenly spiked and I got alot of feedback and noise. The peak meter read something like 3645. Trying to turn off all fx and reset the meter lead to several lower peaks (interestingly 666 over and over). I restarted my pc. Reopened the song and have had no problems since. I have never experience this issue before in 3 years of owning this hardware and haven't seen the issue since.

Thanks. I used this "opportunity" to upgrade to a Firestudio Project but I'd still like the Firebox to work because it's so small and portable. I'll just plug it in again and see what happens.
