Dragging events in the arrange is broken and acting very erratic.

In projects that have a decent number (20-30) of tracks, the dragging behavior of audio/midi events is erratically unpredictable. The "invisible" arrange that I drag events over is completely out of sync with the actual arrange I'm looking at...so dragging an event onto one track puts it 2 or 3 tracks higher. It's very unpredictable and pretty workflow stopping as I have no idea where I'm putting stuff. I made a video showing what I mean here:

How can I fix this?

It doesn't happen on brand new songs, but it has been happening on other songs as they start to develop...not sure what's triggering it...can't find a way to fix it either.

So that project had two folders which were empty (part of a template)...when I put tracks in those folders or removed them, the problem disappeared. I guess there is some visual decoupling between the GUI arrange and underlying arrange when you have empty folders like that, something gets lost in translation....though at least I know how to avoid it.

That definitely sounds like something worth reporting to support, quite possibly a bug, with a specific known cause.. Even if you hae a workaround, I'd suggest reporting it, if you haven't already, so it can get fixed.

I saw exactly that same problem yesterday - I was just trying to rearrange some clips on a newly loaded project so I just reverted back to the saved copy.

Worth noting that the problem has now gone however I've restructured all the folders I was using (some were incorrectly nested for some reason) so perhaps that has addressed the issue.

I wrote it up to a one off glitch since I've never seen anything like it before however I'll keep an eye out for it now that someone else has experienced it as well.

I too am working with a template with a number of folders however none of them were empty.

I do agree that at times it seems like the order and nesting of some folders or tracks seems to magically change on it's own...I've definitely experienced this on more than one occasion. Some times I've noticed that moving or rearranging folders/tracks causes rearrangement of the order or nesting of other folders/tracks. Not sure if it's related to the same bug, but a little unnerving to say the least. I could see it leading to a lot of wasted time hunting around in big projects where one thing goes MIA and ruins a mix. Either way, I've reported the original issue to Presonus...hope they can find a fix
