Recently purchased an approved firewire ExpressCard because the chipset that came with the laptop I was working on it was not properly compatible. The Firestudio is now detected and audio can be played through it correctly.

Prior to installing the ExpressCard the Universal Controller would still be able to load. Since going with the ExpressCard the Universal Control now freezes on launch.

Additionally, when I right click on the icon in the task menu and open the the app it says it has version 0.0.0.0 installed. Clicking the option to check for firmware tells me that I have the correct most recent.

I've enabled the legacy drivers for both the onboard ieee 1394 & the expresscard with no change in performance. This is a Windows 7 64-bit computer.

Also, how do I powercycle the Firestudio? I tried holding in the power button, but did not notice anything. Have read something that mentions powercycling it, but no instructions provided.

New issue. After installing the Firestudio software I'm able to get the Universal Control to start, but it starts in a very small non-resizeable window.

I currently don't have access to it. I work tech support for a school district. One of the teachers has this device.

I'll try to swing by there and get a screenshot later today.

Also it would help if you can post the specs of the Win7 machine.....make, model, CPU, RAM etc....and if you are able to,
running the OCHI tool and posting the results might help:

Off the top of my head I know it's an HP ProBook 6570b running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Using one of the listed approved ExpressCards for FireWire connection because it's assumed the chipset of this model isn't working (was unable to find out the chipset).

Hrmn.....that's odd. I mostly use HP's and I've never run across one yet that didn't have a compatible onboard chipset.
In any case, it should be working with the express card. I suggest you open a tech support ticket. They'll get you sorted.
