One of my clients writes orchestral music in studio one and he is happy with it. He switched from cubase

I am not happy. And a lot of my friends also are not happy. We all score orchestral music and produce electronic stuff as well...unfortunately, Cubase is light years away in this territory. I really hope Presonus will start to go to this direction as well...otherwise...

Really bad...considering to switch back to FLStudio or go completely to Cubase.

REALLY SAD, indeed.
I was so excited when I tried S1 some time ago, but for Electronic Musicians, there are just so (way too) many growing pains in the area of MIDI-editing, -mixing and -worflow.

Had to put it aside and go with Ableton Live & Logic for professional Electronic Music productions.
Hope for more improvements in the abovementioned areas.

2.6: Edit with Melodyne needs unnaturally long to open Melodyne now.

Is it just me or did anybody else experience this too? I am using Melodyne Editor.

Crikey a lot of upset midi composers here.

There is no question that midi in S1 is not as deep as Logic or DP. From what people are saying on here, its like unusable.

It isn't. Midi editing in S1 is certainly on a par with Ableton or Protools. I use it all the time and I am a midi composer who rarely records any live instruments, all VI's. Would I like midi improvements, of course I would. I certainly wont be running back to Logic or PT when all things are considered.

S1 advantage always has been its speed of workflow and it still retains that. I still use Ableton but its a completely different beast and way of working. Brilliant at what it does well, but it sucks big time at a lot of things. You can't compare Live to anything else really at this point.

Does integration with Studio Live desks interest me , not in the least, but I dont get all the negativity really.

wait.. WHAT?!?!?!? we have that now?!?!?! *faints*

that might be the biggest update for me. it's soooo annoying having the faderport but not being able to arm/disarm instrument tracks. wow... that changes the game lol. I'm not even being facetious. Workflow enhancements rock.

I'd have been a little p'oed if I'd have bought a faderport and couldn't have done this. Anxious to see what people are saying/if it works.

I don't see what would be better about live for midi. I mean, I like live, but I actually like S1 for midi more.

Everyone is different.

The multilane midi editing of S1 is great for orchestral work. I have a template with around 100 GPlayer VSTis (1600 channels) and this simply works. Reaper is the only other DAW that can do this too without crashing. The only thing I miss is a decent way to do bank and program changes.

One DAW can not male anybody happy.

I recently got Ableton Push and found that this with Live is a good way to jam and compose.

But I switch to other DAWs for finishing the song and mix it.

Just use another program for your personal workflow and use S1 when you need it.

This fixed it for me, go to HELP menu at top of S1 screen, OPEN "Open Settings folder". navigate to the Folder x86 (32 bit ) or x 64 (64 bit) and delete Plugins-ens.settings.

Shut down S1, reopen S1 Does that work for you.?
