Standard answer unfortunately, it will be released when it is ready.

Presonus will tell you the same thing. If it isn't out yet then it still has problems and they're working on it. You'll get no other answers besides that I'm afraid. It's their policy.

For what it's worth:

On my Win7 64bit (i7 8gigs) -
I had a problem with 1.2 wherein, when ever I switched to get my buffer down, the driver wouldn't 'take' and the sound (from ANY source) became static filled and almost inaudible. Switching back to the original rate did not remedy the problem. So, in other words, the driver worked fine ONLY on the installed buffer size. Changinf it, up or down, rendered it useless and it wouldn't wrok any longer at any rate unless re-installed.

1.2.1 - Works wonderfully (so far). Buffer changes have NOT affected the sound. No pops, clicks, runs, or errors.

Daddy like !

Um . . . oh well.

I'm back.

1.2.1 isn't hanging as well as I was hoping. All was well, when for (this time) no reason at all, the sound went into a severe scratchy static (technical term). Only now, simply opening the VSL and changing the buffer rate did nothing. During past version troubles, a simple switch from 128 to 512, or what ever, did the trick and it cleared the sound. 1.2.1 is not changing rates when selected. Static all-round.

This time, I didn't do a re-install, I restarted and : all is sounding great again.

"Something" is causing the sudden switch to static. It does it at random. (see above post for the first part of this story)

Sounds great, when it does.

Audiobox 44VSL:

Completely useless driver... Again....

1. Pops and clicks
2. Loses connection with the 44VSL when switching between Logic and Finder
3. Audiolevel low (don't know if it's the driver or something else though)

Don't understand this approach towards us (the customers)

It's actually better to not support 10.8.x at all until they have a driver that works, this way everyone gets pissed off and not so very happy to promote the Presonusline at all..

I've moved back to my old legacy Apogee Duet (firewire) with only 2 ins/outs..

Nearly every other soundcard manufacturer has updated drivers for the latest Mac OS but not Presonus, why?? I recently bought a UAD Apollo to my main rig in the studio and i works instantly, right out of the box, no problems at all... You guys could at least give us an explanation and any hint of when you hire guys who can understand the problem and actually fix it for us paying customers..

Sad and pathetic move from Presonus in my opinion..

- pops and clicks
- 88.2/96 khz don't workable
- random distorted/compressed sound

Here's my experience so far with my AB 22VSL w/c I made some comparison with my 2 machines.

1. (Desktop) Dell precision 690, intel xeon dual core 2.33 ghz, 3gb RAM
WIndows XP SP3

- I both ran driver versions 1.1 and 1.2 (installed recently) and never had any problems with pop and crackling noise. Audio sounded great and clean. Setting at 44.1khz, asio buffer size between 128 - 256

2. (Notebook) Compaq Presario, intel pentium dual cpu 1.87ghz, 2gb RAM
Windows Vista

- This is different story, worked fine with driver version 1.1 setting at 44.1khz asio buffer size at 512 and at safe mode. When I installed version 1.2 I got this cracking noise both recording and playback, buffer setting did not fix the problem even with highest setting at 2046. I tried the beta driver version 1.2.1, crackling noise is gone while recording but still getting it during playback. but when I set the buffer to highest setting at 2046, the noise is gone but one thing to mention is I've only recorded 2 tracks so far so I can't tell yet what's going to happen when I added more tracks.

Based on this comparison, audiobox's performance definitely depends on the system that I use, my question is, how is it that I did not get this problem with the older driver version? Obviously I'm not a programmer but there might be a way to utilize the strength of that old driver and apply it the to the new versions, sorry I'm ignorant on this stuff I might not be making any sense. Thanks.

My experiences with the new beta driver:

- My system specs: AudioBox 44VSL (using as the only soundcard), Win7 64-bit Ultimate, 6 GB RAM, i7 920, nVidia GTX560Ti, lots of USB2 stuff and one USB 3.0 add-on card, etc.
- Legacy driver (1.1.) has been the only driver version working as expected (only in safe performance mode with 256 buffer size)
- New beta (1.2.1.) PROS: a lot less cracks and pops from virtual instruments and audio tracks
- New beta (1.2.1.) CONS: i) MIDI input works only occasionally, output works fine, ii) lots of cracks and skips when listening iTunes or using desktop in everyday use, iii) after a while, an hour or so, sound starts to skip very badly, then dies completely, then no sound at all, 44VSL disappears and does not come back even after reconnection. The last item is partically bad and unacceptable.

Beta driver in conclusion: cannot be used, had to switch back to 1.1.

I do hope PreSonus can make much better drivers than this for Win7 64-bit.

Since I buy the 1818vsl 2 month ago., I only got problems with the drivers! I buy this card for live session and studio. Got a fast desktop pc on win 7 64 bit with usb 2 and usb 3. It only works on Usb 2 but with pops and clicks. When your are mixing it's a nighmare!
On the laptop (new asus ux32vd with i7-3517U Windows 8 and 10go ram) it's worse, because it definitly doesn't works on usb3: only pop and clicks! I'm very upset about those drivers, none of them are perfect for usb2 and none of them works for usb3! i buy this card around 500€ and for the moment it is like a toy for my daughter in my home studio! what a shame!

presonus vsl22 win 7x32 - hp6830s usb2.0 on beta driver:
- noticed that pops/clicks are more on midi IN playing VSTi live
- noticed that buffer change disables midi IN = to fix it I need to reboot DAW, reset not work
- plug on/off usb also disables midi IN
- buffers are 64/128/256... what about MANUAL buffer length input for users???
- much better perfomance when I turn off vsl22 virtual mixer
- 128 works quite well but latency is AUDIBLE and same random pops and clicks
- pops and clicks don"t depend on buffer length, they are present on all of them
PLEASE DO SOME WORK WITH DRIVERS PRESONUS
I REALLY NEED STABILITY ON VARIOUS SYSTEMS with overall latency below 7 ms
NOWADAYS YOUR vsl22 is useless gear
thank you!

Same problem here!!!

On MacOSX 10.7.5, Core I5, 4GB RAM, with ableton live running 6 tracks(4 audio clips and 2 plugins Trilian & Kontakt )

I tried every setting but no way on hearing something clean.

The problem is that my brother bought it for me from a store in barcelona and I'm in Morroco so no way to return it to store for now(unless do the trip but for it's value is completely useless),
I 'm really really really disappointed on presonus, and it will be the last product for me in this brand.

Just fix problems with midi in! My Mod wheel increase clicks )))
64 buffer on beta for live guitar/bass is good enough, but when I plug keys to midi in It's a mess (
can't return 22vst, because I live outside US so now I am a beta tester for 200 bucks )

Hi, I am probably off-topic here but I wanted to add my 2 cents... I have been happily using the AudioBox USB interface under Linux for a while now. Now, for the company I work for, I just purchased, "blindly", 4 of the 44 VSL units, assuming that it is standrads-compliant but, alas, it does not work with linux. The error it reports, suggests that this device is not USB standards compliant. There are no drivers for Linux, either and Alsa does not seem to support it.

Are there any Linux users who use this device?
Does PreSOnus even care about Linux users?

I am about to return the 4 units but will wait a day or two for any leads that would help us deploy this interface.

Thank you in advance for any info.

Thank you for the info about the 1818. Unfortunately, it seems that the 44VSL does not work. Too bad.
