I think it's time for you to get tech support on this one xz. This has gone on too long.

I only read the first page of posts. I'm currently going through tech support to find out what's the crack. I have one old rickety PC with windows xp working with the current drivers for 44VSL. I have my higher spec lappy with windows 8 I use for Ableton registering the device but no bouncy graphics for MAIN in the AudioBox GUI when DAW1/DAW2 were bouncing happily to beautiful rhythms from Detroit. Previous to that the only drivers I could get to work on Windows 8 without snap, crackle and pop were the BETA. Unfortunately Windows 8 registered a serious malfunction of the drivers and since then absolutely no output with any drivers. Brand new cable in the main USB2 port it was installed to.

Frustrated and rather irritated putting it mildly.

If I hear anything new and the 44VSL becomes anything but a very expensive door stop I'll let you know. I'm stuck with crappy Realtek onboard.. But this is no solution! It's gonna be difficult returning the unit (bought abroad...). Considering selling in truth stipulating for Mac only and buying a different sound interface if this carries on much longer.

I read the first couple pages, then skipped to the end and it doesn't seem there's a solution yet, so I'll chime in.

I've had the same problem a couple times. The first time I resolved it by switching USB ports. The second time swapping ports didn't work, so I unplugged power to the unit and after ~20s plugged it back in and it works fine again.

Because of an inspired observation from a friend, an observation based upon an incorrect assumption, I'm almost sure my audio cutouts and whole manner of problems have been solved. Best to air on the side of caution.

Said friend seemed to think US power packs couldn't be used in the UK. I didn't believe this but I humoured him. He is Glaswegian - you don't argue with Glaswegians Having swapped the supplied for an M-Audio firewire power adapter (far better build than the supplied imo) of same output all problems disappeared. The power pack supplied with the 44VSL was, is faulty.

Now my only issue is getting the interface to work better on my old xp desktop. I'm sure there're pointers within the forums for this.

I'm feeling far happier now.

I've done the USB port dance with the same results
It works, then unexpectedly after a session, it doesn't work

The 1.1 driver works mostly, with pops and clicks
1.2 and the new beta both have audio disappearances, whereas
I'm working, then come back again and there's no audio output

AND they All have pops and clicks and Lost ASIO buffers

Unplugging and plugging it back into the system itself alone did not solve the problem. But after relocating to another USB jack and uninstalling/reinstalling the vsl software/driver, it's now playing back again. "

Found this in another thread and it worked for me too. I'm back in action.

Signal boost.

For God's shake, no exact solution for this issue?

Somebody said you shouldn't connect the audiobox to a usb 3.0. Can this be the problem?

Is the problem the power supply then? if it's so, why Presonus doesn't open a support line to change all the faulty power suplies?

Can somebody point to a place where we can buy a power unit compatible with the 44svl and it's technical specifications?

If i can't solve this issue in the next 3 days i'll go change my unit for another brand, that's utterly dispairing, and sorry for the rant, but presonus should make an official statement about this issue, otherwise it undermines the trust of their customers.

Well, if your looking for a solution turn OFF the auto updates to your OS and ONLY install the ones you want...This is NOT a Presonus problem and GOD will not do anything about it either.

As long as we insist on using cheap ginsu knife do everything computers we are going to HAVE to deal with issues like this. If you want a trouble free experience get a computer set up specifically for audio!

Try and get ANY customer support from Pro Tools if you aren't using the specific computers they endorse.. ain't gonna happen!
NOTE: If your having an issue, open a tech support ticket and bring the number here if you want help!

For God's shake

Mmnn....I'd like some of God's shake.....I bet his buds are even better. But seriously,
gadget is spot on. You obviously have not had a great deal of experience in dealing
with other company forums. Steinberg, M-Audio, Line 6, Avid....etc. There is NO
community more supportive than this one. And quite frankly a screaming rant is
not the best way to introduce yourself to us. A calm attitude and a bit of courtesy will
get you MUCH further.

That being said....USB 3 has proved problematic for some users on some pc's.
This is not Presonus' fault it is INTEL'S bad and this problem has been experienced
by users of other audio interfaces. Power supply?? I'm not aware of a single confirmed
instance of a VSL series interface shipping with a defective power supply.

Oh....and welcome to the forums.

First of all I apologize for my words, it was out of frustration. It's the second audiobox that gives me problems, the first one being a focusrite 24 dsp pro that had issues with the firewire adapter. I had to travel and spend money only to change the card, and if i can't solve this it means spending more money to go for a third card...

That being said, my computer maybe isn't sound dedicated, but is high-spec, an i7-3770 at 3.40Ghz, 16GB Ram, W7 64-bit, HD deactivated through BIOS, turn-off usb hubs to save energy deactivated from device manager, windows classic without Aero or windows animations, no internet, antivirus and firewall when I work on Cubase 5. I solved the clips issue changing the sample frecuency, removed noise from my monitors produced when moving the mouse of any window by just connecting them to different multiple socket than the pc and sound card, and this is the only one that drives me crazy.

My comp doesn't have usb 2.0, it's all 3.0, so I'll buy a 2.0 card and let you know.

I also thing the problem could be caused by the usb port sharing resources with other components. Check the image:

Another possibility is that if you use any DAW and then switch to another program or browser that uses audio, the driver may get corrupt. Sometimes, after watching youtube videos with Cubase minimized, the sound went off even the meters stated there was incoming audio signal.

I'd like to know if more people that had this issue could definitely solve it.

Regards and my apologies again,

Hi, you have not (as of this writing) registered your hardware, or software.. you have not contacted Tech Service regarding any of this. Tech service is your friend here, they are DEDICATED to solving your issues...

Now, conflicts on the ports are usually a problem, There are tweaks in the Support > Knowledge base > Audiobox VSL

Thanks for the links gadget69, i'll check them right away,

I'm doing some stress tests to gather more info. I didn't register yet because I wasn't sure if i would change the audiobox, but i'll give it a go.

2 days working on it and the sound of the 44VSL went off after the PC came back for sleep mode.

The second time the sound got corrupted occurred when i turned on the external drive to make a backup of my current project while the cubase 5 project was playing. The sound suddenly slowed down, and then it reproduced faster as if trying to catch up... all this while the PC was reading the external hdd info. I closed the project and when I opened it up again, there was no sound. Cubase meters indicated there was internal sound. It didn't work removing/connecting the usb cable. I closed and opened Cubase 5 again and still no sound. The sound only came back after disconnecting and connecting again the power supply cable.

Update: after the described issue, when closing cubase 5 the 44VSL emitted a continued and noisy beep. (this issue has happened twice in 5 days).

This time, disconnecting the usb cable solved the issue.

Another thing that's not normal: after this issue, I played a song with the VLC player. Each time I paused the song, there was like a clipping delay, I mean the song didn't stop immediately but it was like if it played-stopped, played-stopped very quickly and then finally stopped, producing clipping. The VSL mixer was not active.

ive had numerous problems with the 44VSL. S1 didnt' recognize it (saw it as my old 22VSL). then the 44VSL sound disappeared. Tried everything couldnt' get it back. Love my 22VSL (which I now can't get to work) but the 44 VSL made my like miserable for the past 3 days. I'm throwing in the towel and returning ot for a focusrite. sorry presonus.. if I own a 22VSL and upgrade to a 44VSL it should be seamless. this was anything but.

High Reproducibility bug, at least on W7 64 bits: after coming from sleep mode, the 44VSL doesn't emit any sound. You need to disconnect and reconnect the usb cable.

Medium reproducibility bug: If you switch from your daw to your browser and activate the audio (i.e. Youtube), the sound can eventually get corrupted, emitting a continued high-pitch sound.

Can these issues be due to a defective driver for W7-64bits?

Hey guys.. So I recently got the AudioBox 1818VSL... I have a new iMac with OS X 10.9 With Logic X... I just want to use the 1818 as an interface to simply record onto Logic, and playback through my KRK monitors. Logic is responding to the inputs with the mic... BUT I'm not getting ANY output whatsoever (Through Logic or any other program or site). I already went into System Preferences and made the PreSonus the input/output device. I also went into Audio Midi setup to make sure everything was cool there. I even called Apple to get their input on the situation, and they said everything was good on their end and to talk to PreSonus. I would really love to make this work and I've exahusted all of my other options, including reading blogs and watching videos on the situation.. Please get back to me ASAP! Thanks!!
