The iPhone is my savior
Based on Gizzmo's and Crow's feedback I altered the hip-hop/ballad slightly...
This is just a basic template, with missing elements and needs more aggressive editing, since I probably won't be able to finish it within this short time.
Right now I'm diving into my 2'nd flu period within less than 3 weeks and when I've finished typing I'm crashing into bed until I feel slightly human again..... (temp: 39.5 degC) already I didn't want the work I made go to waste....
Since I normally don't listen to hip-hop and I'm more into rock/funk/blues this is my best effort with "a personal touch" compared to the first mix I did.
You should probably be able to detect some possible nuances, compared to the first mix, that should have up'ed the last experience somewhat...

The links to mine is flash, which won't show up on some iStuff I guess.

Completely aesthetic choice, but it seems like you bumped up the tempo of the song. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But as I mentioned before, the baseline version of the song contains some fairly repetitive tracks. Which is mostly an arrangement issue. But when you bump up the tempo, and play the chorus...it sounds a little bit "broken record" like.
I might suggest trying to find a way to add something in the background that changes...or perhaps even remixing the song a bit to change the dynamic throughout the choruses.
Note: If this were someone that was paying you to mix, any of the above decisions would depend completely on the client's willingness to allow you the freedom to do such things. In this case we have that agreement, but in the real world that isn't always the case.
I've added the mix to the first post.
I plan on letting this thread run a bit more through the next week or two. That way we have plenty of time for people to become familiar with the material.

Glad to see this. I thought I was done yesterday, but after hearing it on soundcloud with their crappy quality I'm pretty sure I have some more work to do after all. Overall this is a pretty awesome learning experience because I have hardly done any mixing of this kind before.

Overall, I like this song. It actually gave me an Orange Juice Jones flashback if anyone knows who that is. All the mixes reflect the personalities of those involved and everything here is subjective to individual preference. The vocal no doubt is as good as any radio play, however, there must be a way to disguise some of the repetitiveness. In one of the chorus's a high pitched almost female panned vocal under of the main vocal would ad some texture, and a dead stop and close would break things up around the 3:04 mark . The shaker handles things well in the beginning, but somewhere something distinct needs to appear after the half way mark, if only once. This will diminish or at least create the illusion of an artificial bridge, or change. The song does not need to be re-recorded to do this.

Pending any other submissions I'm looking at a livestream next week sometime at which we can discuss Crow's track. I'd like to have as many folks there as possible. Is a mid-week broadcast best, or a weekend broadcast? It would be early evening US Central time. (5-7 pm).
