I hope they've been listening to us!!!!

I hope we're not building ourselves up for a big letdown.

What I mean is, 2.6 works so well that it's going to take a lot to impress me enough to upgrade.

If 2.6 was the last DAW I ever bought, I'd be more than happy with it for the rest of my recording days. I really can't thank the guys that wrote this software enough.

Spray some WD-40 on the rumor mill to help clear away the rust.

Summer Namm is mid July so that's maybe a good end point for the larger speculation range.

But hey, at least we have a ballpark estimate as to the time.

The cool thing Bub too is unlike that other DAW you have been using upgrades usually work a treat with Studio One as well.

1 When you install them new features often will abound. And they will often be super helpful

2 The new features will work perfectly

3 Existing features do not get broken

4 You can actually upgrade in the middle of major projects without the worry of the upgrade breaking something. I have done it every time with no issues. There is no way you can do that in your other DAW.

5 I have never met a group of people (on the other forum that is) that are hanging out for the next update or upgrade. As soon as something comes out don't you think it is weird they are already listing what they want in the next version. It means actually that they are not really completely happy with their current version! I could not care less actually about the next version of Studio One. I never give any thought to it. The reason is I am so busy and happy doing what I do with the current version. I agree with you in that they could stop right now and I would still be happy and get everything done and well.

I am also very happy and grateful that 2.6 works just really well and I'd be set for quite a while with the product as is (needs skip song pointer forward big time, though).

I just think this is a very good indication of things to come!
For starters, what I like that I hear is:
1. It's coming from Byron, and not some questionable source.
2. We at least have some sort of window of when v3 will be out. When Byron first states by the end of the year, I'm good with that estimation. Late Summer would be fine, but I'd rather see the bugs plucked out and wait a few months for a solid release. I'm sure it will be anyway with the talent involved. speaking of which.......
3. Last and certainly not least that its this core group in Hamburg To me this is particularly important because the originators did such an excellent job. I'm glad to hear that the R & D facility in Hamburg are involved. Albeit, to what level is anyone's guess. But, I'm liking what I'm hearing so far.

I wouldn't be too concerned with this next major version being problematic. Sure there may be a few kinks in the armor, but the highlights will certainly outweigh the few dings that may present themselves. When I started with SO 2.0, it was very solid IMO. That's why you back up your work when going to something new.

I want to stick with what works, so make us proud Presonus!

Suggestion: please put some attention into the user manual this time around as a greater resource for referencing new and existing features, workarounds, and so forth in Studio One. We appreciate the learn by using ease, but I believe there have been too many fundamental questions from users seeking very basic help that could be spelled out better in the manual. Please provide more images, clarification, and concise references glossary, index, etc.). I believe the product will benefit by that greatly.

I'm comfy with that timeline. I too am happy with 2.6.1* but I love new things.

*not upgrading to 2.6.2, heard too many things about it.

That's awesome that they are going to wait till Summer NAMM to announce that Studio One V3 will be coming out soon!

I think summer is a very unlikely time for a major release.

Autumn (fall) or early winter seems more probable.

This is not quite true, unfortunately.
The last recent updates have all broken some functions which were working flawlessly before it.
Some of them got fixed with the next update that followed, though.

I hope it has a better sound engine

2.6.2 all working flawlessly for me. Nothing broken that I saw. Unless of course it was something I did not use much and that is always a posibility.

Not sure what hibidy is on about but there is seriously nothing wrong with the sound engine! He has posted a picture that is not working so I can only assume he is trying to be funny.
