At the point of purchasing 2-315ai and a 328ai. I noticed the M10AI Fly Kit but can't find them at any retailers. Are they available and or will other (JBL or QSC) M10 flykits work.

Never tried to use other "brands" and just don't know. Are they interchangeable?

You can buy forged shoulder M10 eye bolts from Grainger, Fastenal, Western Extralite, KenForging, etc.

For permanent dead hangs, I use Gripple brand rope and fasteners with M10s studs. The studs screw in and the install looks allot cleaner with no eye bolt and shackle. There are lots of options like Gripple which stream line the look of the install.

There are lots of suppliers. If you buy from JBL, QSC, any speaker company, you are going to pay double, but it is convenient getting it all from one place.

They're available at Sweetwater, Full Compass, B&H Photo, among others now. They come 4 bolts to a kit, with washers. The threaded portion of the cabinet is inset a good bit on the Presonus cabinets, and their bolts are a lot longer than the QSC, Mackie, and JBL bolt kits I saw. It's possible the others would work, but as the kit cost is the same and Presonus kits have the heavy washers also, I would stick with them and keep your coverage/warranty/support intact.

Remember to use proper rigging equipment and techniques whenever suspending speakers overhead, using only products rated for this particular service. I have recently viewed some scary "expert" videos on YouTube, where the people were using every wrong piece of rigging equipment and suspension technique imaginable. Don't be "that guy."

M10 bolts are not M10 bolts.

The fact that the OP posted this question tells me he is not a rigger, does not have the proper credentials, insurance, etc. The OP should not be attempting this on his own.

I understand some people are in the sticks and do not have an industrial hardware supplier in their area, but anyone with a Fastenal near them will save 75% buy buying their hardware there, instead of an MI store, where the product has been marked up big time. If you have to buy your rigging hardware at a music store, you most likely should not be flying anything over people's heads.

Agreed on the knowledge of rigging, there is much to know. No argument on that. And those who do know normally save a lot by also knowing what and where to buy. It's their job! But let's not lose sight of the fact that it isn't voodoo, it's the science of materials and mechanics. If you know what you need, go get it where it is cheapest. If not, buy what you're told by competent authority.

My intent in suggesting the Presonus units is that I have them and know they are up to the job, as does Presonus. I feel fine suggesting he buy them from Sweetwater, knowing he can't get the wrong thing there. Such would not be the case cutting him loose in a Fastenal store. And so from the speaker up... buy what you know you need, and if you don't know, buy what someone who does know tells you.

Again, use proper equipment and techniques. Rigging one speaker box to lift overhead isn't beyond anyone's ability, but there are a few right ways, and an unlimited number of wrong ways. Some materials you have a choice in, some you don't. Just make sure (whether by employing someone who knows or by gaining competence through instruction) you do it right. It really could be a matter of life and death.

Actually, if insurance companies, building inspectors and unions are involved, rigging cannot be done by just anyone.
