Hey folks

I've been using SL Remote with Universal Control on Macbook ( Maverick ) and iPad, running an Airport Extreme router. Before the update back in October, I was having no problem at all. Over the last few months however I am having issues with latency and getting kicked off the SL Remote and Q Mix for my band members. I've updated to the latest version of Universal Control, my band members have the latest version of Q Mix, and my iPad is also updated.
I am wondering if anyone else had had the same issues, and how have they resolved this?

Cheers in advance

Hey,

I must say I have the same issue with my 24 4 2 using a Macbook Pro and Airport Express Router. Some shows it works flawlessly, like last night for instance. 2 weeks ago, our pads and phones were locking up and kicked off the network. I also have the latest updates on phones, pads and Macbook. Maybe ill have a run of good luck in the future! I will say, although its a bit aggravating, my band members and I are very happy with the consistency of our mixes every show. Plug n play is what we do…

Hey Paul

I had a chat with the guys at tech support - they seemed to think it was the airport extreme. I thought I'd try the router form home which is a Samsung /Dlink - had absolutely no problems whatsoever. So now my Airport Extreme has been demoted to the home office, and my other router has been promoted to the live music industry.

Hope this helps - give another router a try - would love to hear if this works, because I feel your pain with being at a gig and having all those issues.

Cheers

Stu,

After further research apparently my Airport Express needed new firmware. I hadn't updated it in the 4 years I have owned it! I called Apple tech support and we got to the bottom of it. In the event I have the same issues in the future, a new router will be purchased.

Happy Gigging!

I have similar problem with my Studio live remote app. Sometimes it works fine but most of the time remote control will be kick out after couple of minutes from UC. I'm using cisco epc3825 router and latest version of the UC, Mavericks and iPad IOS. This problem takes place for both mixers I have (SL16.0.2 and AudioBox 1818VSL).

Hey Kukkola
I would try router change before anything given my experience with the issue. If you're using the same router for both desks, I would be looking at it first. If you have another router you could borrow - I think Presonus have a list of recommended routers, however my Samsung works fine now. Good luck!

Hi Hydrostu73,

I did some tests today and figured out that it has nothing to do with the router. It's all about the Mavericks. Apple has implement one feature that makes battery life time longer while running software in background. This is what I have done all the time. Running UC in background and Capture or other recording software in foreground. Running UC in background forces it go to nap mode after a while. After that UC will drop connection to iPad Studio Live Remote software. The problem can be fixed by right clicking once the UC program in Application folder and choose "Get info". You will see a lot of information for UC but there is "Prevent App Nap" you need to enable. I did this and after that UC did not drop the connection to SL remote software.
