gonna try and start a thread here so people can compare tastes... give personal reviews and brag on their 'frugal-ness'

since they will be used inside of S1 by S1 owners... what best place to put this than in the "General Discussion" section. hope you don't mind and i hope we all participate in the discussion. could be a great "port of call" for individuals before purchasing.

I will purchase a keyboard controller at the end of March but can't decide between an Alesis VI61 or the Nektar Impact LX61.

played a few alesis over the years and i like the brand... never play a nektar by the looks of it... it looks sturdy and is appealing. i like the layout on the nektar more but i am an old fart (50+) the main thing is the weighted key aspect to me... i hate non-weighted keys with a passion... but i grew up with an antique upright piano and you had to work it on that thing... but i oh so miss the sound of that thing. my parents paid $1800 for it when i was 6 years old... 46 years ago and it was an antique even then. it was a very beautiful and very old piano and i would shudder at the cost of getting it back! lol

I have too much stuff and not a lot of talent, but I love it so!

On top the supercharger GT, I picked up the IK 432 "mastering" eq. I got nothing to master, purely a luxury buy. (I had jam points and allegedly it's going way up after introductory pricing so it cost me 77.99 so I figured I'd stow it away.)

Yes, I am crazy, but I have REALLY cool stuff!

I spent waaaaaay too much lately. It's extremely rare that I spend anything on 3rd party stuff.

I picked up Melda Production's MAuto Dynamic EQ. It does so much that I couldn't possibly explain it all. I'm in love with it. $168 after exchange rates that I didn't know about until the very last second before checkout. grrr. Check out the 'Resources' section for video's, forum, manual, and more.

I upgraded Melodyne to Editor when they were having the sale. $149.

I took advantage of a special bundle of Nomad Factory plugin's. $49. It came with Magnetic II, Cosmos, and Echo's.

That's more in the last few months than I've ever spent on 3rd party stuff in all the years I've been doing this combined and I have to stop. I've always got by with what came with my DAW because my thinking was, it was infinitely better than what I had to work with with my Tascam 4 and 8 tracks. My luck my DAW will let out the magic smoke now and I'll be screwed with a capital F.

I probably should have done that but the full version of WavesTune came down to $99 so I pulled the plug on that as well as the Waves Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter.

Also got the the AddictiveKeys Electric Grand but that was only because I had to decide between that one and ToonTrack's CP80 sampling. Decided to go with the less expensive of the two.

I really need to start saving my money...

shane i been thinking about melodyne too... i almost got the upgrade to editor also but it is gonna have to wait. i grabbed the demo of the melda EQ but have yet to install. and i may wait some more on it... i can't afford to like anything else this month... lol

as for nomad factory... i got them a month or so ago when bernie first got sick. now this is how i think... i could have gotten the $49 bundle... but i bought them separately for $19 ea. just to help on the cancer treatment a little more since i have only so much i can spend. i think you will be MORE than happy with them at that price! that magnetic is nice... that is my second tape machine emulator i got. but i am most impressed with the cosmos... that thing is worth at least double what you paid for the whole bundle. i really don't know what you'd call it. it is an exciter, bass boost, stereo expander and a lot more wrapped up nicely. pretty niffty little plug imo.

and don't feel bad lokey... me's broke now too. i got me a guitar a few months ago also (not the accoustic) the Vox 33 Single cutaway

but mine is black with creme binding... i love finding liquidations.

lask... i like the idea behind the ezkeys thing. although i play a bit of keys... it is nice just to mix and match ideas. i got a little program i like farting with... it is called ChordPulse i think it is... it is like an app i got a while back for my ipod touch and android fone (Chordbot)... you feed it chord info and choose different 'styles' then adjust tempos and such. no where near as nice as what you got but all i need is the midi export then drag into S1 and start picking instruments both are great for building on ideas

last year i bought a m-audio axiom 25 gen2 keyboard (because i hate my xboard 49 key) and it came with a software i had never seen before or heard about and it was in beta stage. it is called Ignite and put out by AIR. you can't buy the software... it comes with compatible midi controllers. it is the MOST amazing tool for songwriters to musicians and even people that only know what they like to hear. no need to have a music bone in your body
