@themuzic

Yes, you can load multi-timbral VST'i's and everything and IT SEEMS fine but it isn't. I do large projects (Orchestral) with many instances of Kontakt, Omnisphere etc. That's when you get problems. If you have 50+ VST/midi tracks and your tracks AND mixer channels start moving around absolutely randomly (incl. change of colors) BELIEVE me it is messy and frustrating. Tracks even move from one folder to another. You want to change something and you can't find your bloody track because it is now somewhere else.

@rjplus
True, its not a feature but a bug. I am a bit negative about this because Presonus never even acknowledged this issue nor did they respond to my posts on the technical forum. You would think it's just such a basic thing and a MUST BE ABLE TO function for any DAW in 2012 but there you go.
PC: Intel Xeon 3600 / HexaCore 3.20 GHz, Win7Pro x64, 24GB DDR3, Akai MPK88, Faderport, RME Babyface

DAW: Studio One 2 Professional

VSTi: Spectrasonics (all), EW Play (most), NI Komplete 8, LinPlug (most), Korg (all), Alchemy, Zebra, Nexus, Blue, Engine, Ethno, BPM, Vstation, Real Guitar, Punch, Halion Sonic, Ivory

VST: Waves, FabFilter, PSP, Nomad Factory, 2c-Breeze, QL Spaces, ARC

About the earlier colorscheme posts:

True that there is room for improvement, though the uniformal look should be preserved at all times. You don't want to end up a user themed DAW. It gives me creepy fl studi'ish goosebumps.
On the other hand, full color mixertracks seems like a simple addition, yes.
There's indeed nothing special about protools 10's layout. For any preferred comparison, I would turn to logic's interface.

The real improvements can be made with automation though. I've been stressing ever since the beginning that the use of automation clips would be so much more effective when moving around automated tracks.

Let's hope there's finally something improved in this. It for sure is killing my workflow now and then.

It does appear to be but it's actually not random. Not dismissing it, but it's not really random. You can directly manage some of those placement behaviors with the Track Inspector assignments...

And some of the other behaviors can be better controlled with track folders.

Not sure whether we misunderstand each other. Even IF I assign the outputs within inspector to the correct outputs it will happen. So while I work on a song tracks and channels "move" around when they shouldn't and while they are at it they also change colors. It doesn't happen always but in my case most of the times. Therefore it's random.

It could be Cubase AND Nuendo, for what I heard.

But 2.5 is enough to keep me warm right now.
