I have a Firestudio Project and a Firestudio Tube daisy chained to my MacBook. Using the latest driver I get good signal from the FSP when using it alone - but when using both devices only the tracks coming from the FST are usable - the tracks from the FSP only contain noise and crackles.

I assume it's a clock-problem. but both units have solid blue lights on.

I reinstalled the driver, and on each single device have checked the firmware and did a factory reset.

What else can I do?

No one?

Seems there is a bug in the driver concerning the word-clock-synchronisation of daisy-chained units.

Trying to toggle word clock settings in the UC brought me to other odd results. One of the two Units always makes mistakes. Single units work as expected.

Is it possible that its a firmware conflict?

How do you have them hooked up? Which one is hooked to the mac?

Actually the Firestudio Project is connected to the MacBook because it has the lower Serial and so the driver defines it as "Master". So I also have to use the Main out of the "Project" as my main out.
Both Units have the latest Firmware (which was updated a while ago). And they have worked together well with UC 1.6.1, 1.7 and 1.7.1. under Mountain Lion.

Since updating to Maverick I actually mainly used the Firestudio Project for Tracking. But I recall doing a drum soundcheck with both Units (I use 17 Mics with Room and 3 Snaredrums ) where everything worked well too under Maverick. Just can't recall if it was driver 1.7.1 or 1.7.2

I tried toggling the clock settings in UC already - but all I got was a situation where I got noise and crackling through the main out when playing back from iTunes.....

So tonight I got it running again. With UC 1.7.1!

UC 1.7.2 definitely has a bug! There is no chance to get two firestudios daisy-chained and have both input-streams working correctly. Either of the streams will send scratching noise instead of drums or vocals. Whereas the output-stream of the corresponding interface works.

Luckily 1.7.1 works on Mavericks as well on my System. But 1.7.2 definitely needs a fix.

I have the same problem but with a 16.0.2 and a FireStudio Project. It has always worked until the most recent UC upgrade. I'm trying to undo installations to get back to something that works right now.

UC 1.7.2 is now working for me. In the process I remember the events that took place.

I was using 1.7.1 with Mavericks and everything was fine and then Apple pushed an update to OS X around December 18th. After the update the OS could no longer see my PreSonus gear. That is when I found the 1.7.2 update which I installed. Everything appeared to be fine after the update, but then the first time that I tried to use daisy chained gear I ran into a problem.

To fix everything I completely uninstalled UC, reinstalled 1.7.1 and then upgraded to 1.7.2. Probably the most important thing though is that before installing to 1.7.2, I turned off all PreSonus gear. I suspect that this may have been the root cause of my problem.

Hope that helps.

Earlier I had a problem with my Projects and it turned out that I had to swich in the UC from Project Master to SPDIF and back.
My 5 cents.

ok, so i've been pulling my hair out for weeks trying to figure out what was going on with my whole setup daisy chained.. (studiolive 16.0.2 & two firestudio projects). when i first brought my 2 fire studio's a couple months ago and daisy chained them with my 16 0 2, everything worked fine no problem. after i updated to Mavericks still everything worked great.. soon as i updated the Universal Control to 1.7.2 i think that was when i ran into the issues.. just like everyone else, every time i recorded, the playback was very crackly/static like it was a clock issue. to make a long story short. finally figured it out.. downgraded back to UC 1.7.1 and everything is back to normal.. Presonus please fix UC 1.7.2! Very Buggy

Thanky to all the others for their replys - so I'm not alone.

I have several replies from tech support too - as gadget69 says, they really are into it already. I'm sure everything will be fine.

I just did not make it to my studio through the holidays to make a system status report with my Firestudios connected to my computer. So after New Year maybe I can supply tech support with more information......

Just adding: With UC 1.7.1 it sometimes takes me about 5 Restarts of my System and the Firestudios to get both synced to the computer - so a new driver for OSX Mavericks should be an urgent task.

My setup is fixed (again?). After opening a support ticket and following their instructions (uninstall, reinstall, etc.) I still had no success. In dealing with another issue, I got the idea that the actual hardware ports on my FireStudio Project and StudioLive have different tolerances, so I changed the order of the hardware so that the FireStudio was first from the computer and the StudioLive was daisy-chained from the FireStudio. This did not work, but when I changed the Clock Source in UC, everything worked. I then re-arranged the hardware after a reboot and everything worked! My conclusion is that I changed the ClockSource manually for the first time after installation and since then everything has worked regardless of which ClockSource I choose and regardless of what order the hardware is setup.

Or, I have a spurious interrupt / racing condition and I'll have a problem down the road.

Only time will tell.

I thought it was fixed, but alas it is not. It is intermittent, but I still have the garbled recording problem. Has anyone had any success in resolving this issue?
