2014? Are the Presonus devs all going on a 6-month vacation?

Assuming a late 2012 release for 2.5, I think 3.0 will come sometime next year (meaning 2013).

Just my opinion, of course.

Yes of course, its all guess work. But to release 2.5 now at the end of 2012 then v3, say, a year later then that to me doesn't give 2.5 the breathing space it deserves. Either that or version 3 won't be a big jump up as v1 to v2 .was

Well that thought process might work with other companies but this is PreSonus, they aren't stingy about trying to bring customer satisfaction. They won't delay stuff just for the sake of giving something "breathing space". Look at the history of how quickly they have brought everything out so far since the inception of Studio One. Studio One 3 will be out when it's tested and ready regardless of a 2.5 interim update. Having said that, I have no predictions on when that will be.

Dont let the Mrs find out
Just imagine being able to have this view in s1, for multiple lanes at the same time, better than the multi lane midi editor, which is more for orchestral arrangent, and bare in mind you cant beat this for drum sequencing also, its a must have view.
Cubase edit in place

sonar inline piano roll

and a few others Daws also have this editing feature.

I too am anxious for the next update but I have to say that it's not because the current model doesn't function properly. I have been cranking out a number of new songs recently and I so much love the fact that every is so very stable on my system.

I don't have to worry about crashing or saving a file and then loading it back up and something has changed. I am learning more about the software all the time and it's jsut plain great to use it without messing with it to get it to work.

I read on other forums how many people spend an enormous amount of time trying to get their DAW working right and I really feel for them. I was one of those too. Not anymore.

Any updates to this program will be welcomed and appreciated. In the meantime, I am creating and producing and trying to keep my mind off of the potential new features! LOL!

I just realized that for what I do on a day-to-day basis I could still be on S1 V1. I upgraded straight away last year when V2 came out but in reality everything I do (I am probably just a guy with a simple taste) I could have done with V1. The only thing which really interested me were the folder tracks but since S1 still can't handle multi-timbral VSTi's (random moving of channels/tracks all over the place), folder tracks made my daily problems worse. So I don't use folder tracks at all (...put Nelson's 'HaHa' here).

So for me 2.5, 3.0 or 4.0 means nothing. I have a feeling that my only big ticket issue with S1 (100% integration of multi-timbral VSTi) is not on Presonus agenda for a long time to come, if ever.

It is strange to me because working with multi-timbral VSTi's seems so easy in Studio One when using the track list in the mixer. I can create any kind of view possible, assign anything to an independent out or what ever. I use Sampletank as my main sound bank and it has 16 outs. For me, I can't think of any situation I can't address.

I do some orchestration and use a lot of multi-timbral VSTi's and have also noticed tracks in the mixer view jumping around and the colour system is also quite broken with multi-timbral VSTi's. But these are more in the nature of bug/quirk fixes than new features. I expect we will see the issues remedied sooner than later. All I really want is a proper pan tool to make it easier to pan around the screen while I'm editing.
