Thanks for all the neat suggestions, everyone. I confess to being a bit of a plug-in junkie, and have been having a ball trying out all of these new toys and flavors you've been suggesting.

So far, my two personal favorites of all the great ones everyone has listed have been from Bedstrom's list:

TT Dynamic Range Meter by Brainworx. Wow! The nicest metering I've seen in a long time. If you do a lot of mastering, I highly recommend you check that one out.

Also Flux Stereo Tool. Very nice, indeed!

Here are some of my favs.

Here's a good eq that poped up recently, loving it so far. Updated v1.1
Download:http://sonimus.com/site/page/downloads/

Features
* 3 band Equalizer, Low, Mid, High.
* 2 Musical Filters, High-Pass Low-Pass.
* Preamp stage with bass booster.
* 64-bit floating point precision.
* Up to 192kHz sample rates supported

Specs
Work internally to an accuracy of 64 bits
Supports sample ratios above 192 kHz
Windows VST Format 2.4 of 32 bits.

FerricTDS: http://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/downloads/

This device simulates some dynamic effects as can be obtained with some high quality tape gear.
Tips & tricks

* works great on VA synths to add some slight crunch and presence
* use it in the chain for electric guitar: Subtle compression (Density II) > Fender style ampsim > FerricTDS {Dynamics high, Saturation low, SC high, rest to taste} > optional FX
with slightly different settings it works for crunch amps, too.
suddenly ampsims come alive and “feel real” – what a breakthrough !

WatKat

WatKat is a digital “clone” of a Wem Watkins “Custom” Copicat. It sounds very lo-fi, noisy, irregular. When you turn it off and leave the tape loaded, the tape bends in proximity of the capstan, and this turns into a periodic pitch fall during echo playback; plus, it gets hot and the background hum gets worse in time... you should turn it off every now and then; the tape is never completely erased, and the capstan motor flutters... and it gets worse if you touch it while it's spinning; heads tend to get dirty very soon, infact you should clean them often. This is true for the actual hardware unit, and for the digital simulation as well!

Panel Controls:
– Swell: adjusts the volume of the repeats;
– Sustain: adjusts the number of repeats; be careful with this knob!
– Gain 1: volume of input 1 (left channel);
– Gain 2: volume of input 2 (right channel);
– Head 1, Head 2, Head 3: use these switches to select the playback head(s); each head gives a different delay time.
Don't touch the capstan!

Additional Features:
– Very easy to use
– Very light on CPU and memory
– Easy MIDI Learn feature
– Free for all, so the world may know how cool is a Watkins tape echo!

I will add some more when I get a chance.

TAL-NoiseMaker: http://kunz.corrupt.ch/?Products:VST_TAL-NoiseMaker

TAL-NoiseMaker is an improved version of TAL-Elek7ro and has a completely new synth engine and a lot of improvements in sound and usability. The synth also includes a small effect section with a reverb, chorus and a simple bit crusher effect.
A display shows the knob and slider values. This allows more control over the synth. A ringmodulator and a syncable triangle are also part of this synth. TAL-NoiseMaker includes new filter types as the self resonating 6dB low pass and a notch filter. Its improved amplitude ADSR is very suitable for slow pads as for really fast envelopes. 128 factory presets included.

SynekDC: http://www.kvraudio.com/developer_challenge_2009.php#dc09_16

SynekDC is a simple FM synthesiser which uses a single algorithm and routing configuration to produce a variety of sounds. There are 40 presets included with SynekDC, which demonstrate a range of sounds from familiar FM electric piano timbres, to brash ear-splitters via percussive tones and gently moving pads.

I run a 64bit system but I use S1 32Bit. I won't go full 64bit until S1 has a built in solution for 32bit plugs.

Or, even better, the plugin developers catch on to the fact that 64-bit has been around quite a while and is considered the future in terms of computing.
