Trying to decide what snake I want to purchase before I order my 3242AI...had good luck with a reel snake from Audiopile with my 24 (24x12-150), but I'd like to get a snake that would contain enough returns for all 14 auxes and the masters. While I may not always need 'em, it's better to have them and not need them. Anyone know if someone makes a 32x16 analog snake yet?

I would recommend running a 16 channel fan to fan snake, as this would solve two concerns:
1) It would provide 14 aux sends to a BOH rack for amplification, or IEM processing, and two main sends for a drive rack.
2) It solves the potential feedback problem (albeit very rare)when you run different signals (mic signals & balanced signal) down the same multicore cable. I have never understood why snakes had returns on them, let alone the development or "powered snakes". has a snake for the 24 channel Studiolive mixer (not A.I.), and may (in time) develop one for the 3242AI. They have great prices on durable snakes, although I wouldn't take one touring.

Stay away from any low profile snakes: most have the jacks mounted on a PC Board, and they don't handle the bumps and jarring common to stage boxes very well. The PC Boards have a tendency to break, and are not easily field repaired.

The person who says it can't be done it usually interrupted by someone else doing it.

I would go with two 16x8 snakes myself. More flexibility, i.e. two stage drops. Or if you're crazy and want more flexibility, four 8x4 snakes!

And no - I'm not kidding. I worked a couple jobs with Mono and he has several 8x4 snakes and it was awesome having multiple drops available on stage...
