Actually, I'm thinking about ditching off a bunch of stuff

Other gear ditch, but guitars well that is something different. Guitars are pieces of art, each telling its own story, I can say I have regretted every guitar I have sold.

But on the other hand if you are not a guitar sentimentalist like me sell the critters and bathe in a shower of currency, and regret it later..

I think I'll do just that (keep the guitars, thin down my vst herd)

*******REMINDER*******
Wednesday is last day of month so get that plug you're needin'

RSPE No Brainer deal on Metric Halo plugins (Channel Strip and Transient control). $30 each or $45 for both:

OR

SPL Transient Designer ( @ Plugin Discounts for $59 (reg. $149)

The SPL is sort of a classic, but I'm going to try the Metric Halo out tomorrow. ................

Check if items require ilok. I was just reading at the MetricHalo site that the bundle demo requires an iLok. I do not know if there are exceptions.

***Please always demo and demo basically any software first for compatibility. This is only a heads up deadline notice.

Super! Does the SPL Transient Designer require an iLok Dongle?

It's a great plug! Enjoy!

NO. PA is C/R.

I wonder how it actually compares to the NI version. I don't use TS enough to justify I don't believe.

No iLok required. They use an online/offline computer-based activation.

Thanks dr4kan!

You know oldblood, I'm liking Izotopes Alloy 2 more and more. Not on sale but the $125-149 buys a lot of channel strip.

@Lokeyfly
I think a lot of people see it as a one stop do it all thing, where as I see the individual items within and use individually as needed. The nice thing about Alloy 2 is the tools are there on one palette should you need them. Plus there are the multiband options too. Forget the presets and setup as you would individual plugs.

Just a quick note following on from my previous post.
With Alloy2 you get
  • A comprehensive EQ

  • Transient shaper single or multiband

  • Exciter Single or Multiband

  • 2x Dynamics with a choice of Digital or Vintage on each

  • DeEsser

  • Limiter with Hard or soft.

  • All very compact and tidy.

i love the alloy 2 also but i have found a slight problem i need to work out. if i use the slate rc-tube channel with other plugs... no little hiss. if i use alloy 2 and other plugs... no little hiss. but if i use the rc-tube AND the alloy 2 together on the same channel... i get a little hiss but it is only noted at the end of playback when everything stops. it is not loud and only lasts for maybe a second... but it IS there. i can make it go away by removing one or the other of the rc-tube and alloy 2. apparently they DO NOT want to play nice together. it can easily be remedied but STILL it bothers me about those two.

it is almost like an interference sound... like if you get a casio keyboard too close to a computer. the reason i use the casio as an example is that the tone generator in the casio self contained keyboards had a problem that other electronic devices in close proximity would cause interference that would be added to the generated sound. what i am getting sounds like interference.

i am planning on testing them both together with a different instrument because it may just be the actual midi generated tone is the culprit when those two plugs are applied. after all... it WAS a string sound generation on the channel i found this problem.

Greetings. Seems like I missed a lot here.

Last week I had a discussion with my friends, and I was suggested to get NI Komplete 9. I had tried the element version and I quite like it (although the instruments bundled in the element version is pretty limitted, I had good time playing around with.). Later I went to see the local dealer and it's currently out of order . It's probably a good thing because I'm not really financially ready for that anyway.

Actually I'm considering waiting for Komplete 10, or waiting for discounts, whichever comes first (but there is never be big discount here in Thailand, practically).

@jBranam, I have a Roland MicroCube, it's currently lent to my brother. The MicroCube sounds quite nice, considering its size. My guitar tutor connects his into larger speaker cab and it sounds pretty good. I also have a modded Vox VT30, a modelling amp with tube pre section.

Speaking of my recent purchases, I just remember that I also bought Zoom H2n not so long ago (last 2 months or so). It's a handheld recorder with 5 condenser microphones inside. It also works as a USB audio interface as well. I find it pretty handy especially working outside the studio (=my bedroom). I also record some acoustic guitar tracks with that.

well i don't know about current versions but i know this cube60 is pretty badassed... i wouldn't have bought it if it weren't. at 60 watts and with a 12 inch driver it will blows the windows out. i really like the dynamic amp... the softer you play the cleaner the sound and the harder you bite into the strings... the distortion increases. i would love to find a decent stomp that does that.
