Anyone ever had an issue using one board for two stages? I do a festival every year (just did it yesterday) and we're trying to simplify things and improve them. Right now on the list is to rent additional PA for our second stage (badly needed) but instead of also renting another board, I'd like to run everything off one board (namely the 32.4.2 that I plan on purchasing)...anyone ever done this, and can suggest the easiest way? I shouldn't have a problem with aux sends or channels or anything (most I used this year was like 15, and that can always be condensed as needed)

If you're only needing 16 or less channels per stage, you could run both stages with the 32.4.2 . There's certainly enough aux sends to share. or if you had a multi-pin setup on both the multicores, you could just re-patch from one to the other.

The big disadvantage of using one board, is that stage 2 can't be made ready to go, while stage 1 is going. So you lose the ability to seamlessly go from one stage to the other.

Use 2 snakes with a multipin plug/socket... one stage is done, unplug that snake and plug in the other stage's snake.

That's probably what I'm going to do...just didn't know if anyone had any issues with it before. Makes it easier to EQ everything as well..I had everything dialed out on the main stage, but we had no EQ of any sort on the second stage (besides channel EQ) but we made it work.

Or get (buy or rent) a console that uses a digital snake, and change the input patches via a scene change.

I'd probably consider using two 1642 instead as they make a great team when coupled together and for a dual stage you still have them separate but side by side in a somewhat small footprint. This way you have it separated and the mixing is easier... also smaart EQ is probably better used in a dual 1642 format for two stages. Two 1642 consoles is a very powerful system! Save the 3242 for the bigger gigs and uses the 1642's separate or in sync as one main mixer... wish I could bang 2 2442 console together like the 1642 do...

I used two mixers for my two stages, but combined the speakers together for one big system.

Send the RT out from the house left mixer to the house right mixer's Aux input or one of the channels.

Send the LT out from the house right mixer to the channel or aux in on the left mixer.

In this way, I was able to line check one stage while the other stage was playing through both sets of speakers.

For me and my second, this worked out great and the audience enjoyed no break between acts.
