Hello guys , I made a post lately regarding a DSP acceleration .... are there any plans made for a device from Presonus especially designed for Studio One like Avid did ???

I often hear people saying there is no longer a need for DSP acceleration, with the speed of today's computers. Well, they've been saying that since the PowerPC G5 & today's computers are many times more powerful than that ancient piece..... and next year, we'll be looking for even more powerful PCs.

UAD is still very much in business; personally I don't believe we can ever have too much power.

A while back, Steinberg and Apple were working on node technology where processing power could be leveraged across several PCs on a LAN. I thought that idea would lead to big advances in digital audio recording.

Then you've got ViennaProEnsemble, which does something similar.

I'm sorry, what was your question again?

PT11, Nuendo and others allow for multiple computers to be cascaded.

Actually I'm not using UAD ... working mostly with Slate Digital plugins. If i want to work with Slate plugins with DSP acceleration , i have to move to PT11 and to move to AAX protocoll.

I was wondering if Presonus is into making it's own accelaration unit like Avid did. That's all.

I know UAD, and TC Electronics has it's own DSP

I'd love to see Studio One running on the OPEN SCOPE platform someday.

Imagine all the awesome SCOPE plug-ins directly integrated into Studio One! That would be the biggest dream come true!
I'm running the current SCOPE version 5.1 and I'm blown away by the superior sound quality each time I use the synths or the Dynatube guitar amps for instance. It's killer!

I am completely jealous that you have a scope. I mean true jealousy lol . I have wanted one of those machines for as long as I can remember they have been around.

My friend has S1 running with a UAD Apollo Quad audio interface / DSP accelerator via Firewire 800. There is a slot for Thunderbolt connectivity if he runs out of bandwidth but for now the FW link does very well. This is exactly what you asked for and it has nothing to do with Presonus yet it works perfectly and was a breeze to set up and install. I know this because I set it up.

Everyone thinking solutions from other vendors. I'm asking Presonus direct this time. They are the creators of the program, they also creat hardware, they could also contact plugin companies and together creat a platform for a Studio One DSP device, as Avid did with AAX protocol.

Just looking for an answer from Presonus. I'm already familiar with UAD and all the other DSP platforms out there !!!

It would be great to see some cascading capabilities in the future. I'm not really fond of going with a powered platform telling me wich plugs I can or can't use. For the same amount of money you can build a cascading system far more powerful and free of limitations as to plugin use.

I know it's very common in 3d video and animation software as they tend to need excessive render times. Never heard of DAW that uses this technology. But I would be very excited is this was possible in S1.

Excuse my ignorance but what is meant by a "cascading system"? Do you mean multiple computers processing work for one project?

If so... I think the closing thing we have to that is something like Vienna Ensemble Pro... where you can load up effects and instruments on different computers, and essentially offset the workload. The computers are connected by LAN. And you can save the state of VEP in your project so it's recallable.

Well, why don't you get a used SCOPE PCI card? They aren't that expensive anymore and are still running great.
I have two cards in my old Win XP PC that I use exclusively for SCOPE. Win XP is installed on an 8 GB compact flash card, no hard disk in there. You could also put these cards into an external PCI expansion box like the Exsys EX-1031 if you don't have any available PCI slots in your current PC.
Or just buy an XITE-1

I think it makes more sense to collaborate with Sonic Core and use their DSP know now and experience rather than starting from scratch.
The OPEN SCOPE platform will probably provide already everything they'll need to make use of DSP power inside Studio One.
Just like the upcoming Parseq DAW will integrate SCOPE.
And of course they could come up with a dedicated DSP hardware that uses OPEN SCOPE as its "operating system".
