Let's try this thing again here in the FR forum, please list your top 3 personal FR's for V3, and - only - the top 3 , by direct personal priority. Thanks.

1. Full Track Templates

I really, really want this. It's a relative hassle to not be able to drop in a multi-out instrument and have everything already setup. Frankly, it was one of the (many) reasons I left Cubase because it seemed they had no particular interest in ever doing it. In the best case it would also include busses and sends. Drop in a preset and I have my instrument setup with everything exactly the way I stored it.

2. Mix Scenes

I've missed these ever since I stopped mixing on my digital console which had scenes + event automation, where you could setup things to trigger / change at any point, like with event markers or scene markers, plugins could change or load, fader or pan levels, whatever. It was usually my first phase of automation before writing dynamic automation.

3. Better Grouping in General

I want groups to be much more configurable than they currently are. For example, I want to create groups of clips across tracks on the timeline without grouping their tracks. I'd want grouping for tracks to include things like opposing panning, and to assign channels to more than one group at the same time. And to make groups discreet from grouping, e.g., to create a group and not have it's existence fully depend on something being assigned to it. Currently once a group no longer has members it disappears.

Those are my personal top 3 wishes for the Version 3 cycle, in order of how I would prioritize them.

Thanks.

If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em. (j/k)

Being more serious though, I actually agree with Bobbyland that there is probably some value is seeing where and/or if most users priorities actually line up or crossover. I do think the FR board is the best place for it (since it's all FR's) so ... list your top 3.

P.S. Maybe a little more difficult to do with a poll becasue it would probably need 40-50 poll choices to cover all the varying FR possibilities without leaving something important to someone out..

OK, here goes:

#1. Pattern Sequencing

Some sort of live option for mashing it up, being a Matrix or even a plugin option.

#2. Slip editing

Similar to Sonar where instead of Duplicating an Acid Clip you simply drag the edge of the Clip and either with a keystroke or mapping the position of the cursor on the clip it automatically extends acid loops beyond 1 shots into one continuous block of clips.

#3. Custom Coloring of the GUI

Some way to allow some color change to the Background and Foreground Elements of all views.

I realize that some may be out of the question or way down on the list but if they are not considered the software is alright as it stands

My Dollars worth..

Since we have not heard from them in four months (with the exception of the 2.5.1 bug fix) and we know they will have to support Win 8 touch screens, I would guess they are already deep into the next big feature set. However from my winter SWOT report http://forumsarchive.presonus.com/posts/list/33381.page here are my top three.

#1 Beat Detection: You have the basics there with transients and pitch shifting. Suggest licensing a third party library for beat detections and mapping (Z plane?). Add that to your drag and drop mindset and come up with the best. Most Leading DAWS Tempo mapping detection barely works as it is easy to miss-detect syncopation or missed the down beat. If you do go with one make it extremely easy to drag the down beats to the transient point or allow us to apply it visually just a range at a time.

#2 Smart Tool: The Editing tools should be smart. Based on event position (ends, middle, top, bottom), the context of the (event/track, audio/MIDI) and a modifier key, it should auto select the correct tool for the task. (Including zooming)

#3 struggled between LMikes “Full track Templates” and greatly enhanced MIDI work flow, just finishing the Transform vision ( true 100% incremental roll forward/backward Transform) and decided the “Full Track Templates is already on the table so I cast my vote for “A Real Scrub”.

All great requests guys.
Here's my 3.

1. Global fx bypass.
I like the option of A/Bing between bypass and all on. I hope they break it down into bypass all, bypass only sends and bypass only inserts.

2. Auto Detect Peaks.
There's a feature request for this, so I won't go over the details.

3. More colour options.
Option for full coloured mixer and related track headers. More distinct icons.

Tbh there are loads of features but the devs can only doso much.
I'm sure they'll throw us a curve ball with version 3 and we'll be left saying "I didn't see that coming".

??? Huh? I don't run this place, have any kind of thread you want. You don't need my permission.

If your comment can be roughly translated to "Can we have a top 3 improvements thread (althoguh I'm not sure how it would differ from this thread exactly) without you (me) making any comment in it at all, sure. Go for it? You can have any kind if thread you want.

I'm nobody. Just another opinionated user.

1) Shuffle mode and Smart tool (similar to PT and outlined by jpettit above)

2) Arranger function (similar to Cubase)

3) Track templates/session import

Notice how I got 5 into 3

For Live sound:

Studiolive fat channels

Studiolive scene import. For those who want to take a live recording to mix at home.

Ipad remote to control the virtual mixer you've created in s1 using fat channels.

For recording:

Slip editing. somebody requested slip-editing but seemed to have a different idea to mine as to what that actually means. Here's what I mean by slip-editing

The ability to save multi-track templates - I've built a monster guitar sound using several tracks each containing different instances of ampire, panned and delayed differently all sent to a master bus. I'd like to be able to recall that collection of channels into any future projects.

- eventbased automation just like if you work with continuous midicontrollers. why the difference between essentially the same functonality? see the "we need automation clips" thread for more information.

- freely adjustable curves between nodes on automation.

- userdefinable tagging/sorting of plugins in the browser, i.e. category sorting.

- very enhanced docking ability of windows including plugin windows. essentially being able to freely define where and what to dock. along with the ability to create screensets, to be recalled with keystrokes.

- fully customisable inspector. theres way too much stuff one never needs in view, while the stuff thats necessary to be in view is often hidden, forcing you to constantly resize the inspector.

- enhanced browser sorting (sort by type, last modified, etc), as well as the ability to only show certain filetypes (i.e. only wav, only mp3, etc)

- option to auto fullsize a mixertrack, when slim mode is used, so as soon as a mixerstrip is selected, thatone is full sized with inserts and sends open. when another strip is selected, the previous one collapses to slim state again and the new one is full sized.

- analyser plugin should have a 1/12 octaved bargraph view. as well as the ability to set up the attack time to fast, and the release time to slower. right now, if you set it up to a speed where the release is sufficient. the attack time is way too slow.

- 0db margins, like in the metering plugin, natively on _every_ channel...

- correct native panning on every stereo channel. right now its not panning, but balancing.

- i could go on, but for 3.0 that seems to be way enough, and its just what comes to my mind, not sitting infront of s1.

I'm sorry but you have more than three, you will have to omit 5 of those request's...

Just kidding, I'm sure there are some that I forgot to mention myself.
