Not sure if this is common knowledge, but you can make 3rd party Multi Channels Instrument presets in S1 with two simple steps.
1) insert at least one FX on each channels of your multi-channels Instrument. (My presets use the mix tool as a minimal FX but add EQ or compressor if you typically use them)
2) Add a short piece of MIDI data and drag it to the browser Files section as a musicloop. ( the event can be deleted as you use the Instrument)
3) Pack it as a sound set and even upload your preset to the Exchange if you think it is a common plugin people use.

It will load the Instrument with your Instrument all of it's configurations + all the S1 channels that you have set up with the appropriate FX for each channels all in on drop! This is a great time saver for people who adhoc want to set up completed Instrument set ups.

Here are a few common drum VSTs that I will upload to the Exchange. Only BFD2 loads its own pitch names. I will include pitch names in the sound set so ti is easy to also load them as a second step.

The Multi Track Drum Presets are up on the Exchange now.
Can someone with either EZ Drummer ( should be allow of you), BFD 2, SSD 4, or Addictive drums try one out please?

I not sure they will work if S1 stores a unique serial number for my instances of EZ Drummer VST versus yours.

If they Exchange presets don't work it is easy enough for you to create your own.
Thanks

Nice job (again) Jeff!

I will test this weekend using Superior Drummer 2.0. Sorry I can't get to it earlier.

This looks very helpful to me as I use the full breakout of SD outputs in the mixer.

I did not upload a superior drum preset as I do not own it thanks.
If anyone has easy drummer which comes with studio one then the presets can be tested.

If you are still having problems try re scanning your VST folder and possibly try using the plugs in another DAW and see if they are accessible there (to see if the issue is with the plugs not Studio One). There may have been something wrong with the installation of the plugins.

Single click to Manage VSTi Outputs

A very simple quick tip.

Are you using the right click menu to expand and collapse Instruments to enable / disable their outputs in the console? That's fine but...there is a quicker way. Some time ago I posted this tip for Inserts in the mixer (to show / hide them) but the following tip is for Instrument outputs in the Console.

If all you want to do is to show or hide the Outputs for any Instrument just single click the Instrument insert.

That will show or hide the available outputs for any VSTi. Of course a double click will open the UI for the Instrument.

dgkenney wrote:Not really a tip but I just noticed that when you make a custom "key command" (for example I use alt/shift/d for duplicating a layer) it will appear in the corresponding drop down menu item. I don't remember other DAWs doing this but I could be wrong. Very nice.

Dan

Well, actually in Logic the same thing happens. It´s a really great feature. Also, in Logic, if you press Ctrl before you chose something in a menu that doesn´t have a key command, you are automatically taken to the relevant KC in the list, ready to be assigned to something. I can´t seem to get that to work in S1 but that is in no way a dealbreaker. I absolutely love what I´m finding in S1!

Is that the only VSTi in your song? Try another one and see if you can get any sound (in the same Song). Trying to narrow down the problem.

Another thing to check is something else might be accessing your sound card...another application. That might result in silence in Studio One.

Make sure the track is routed to EZ drummer and double check that the outputs for EZ drummer (if you need them) are activated / ticked in the Console.

There may be some other specific set up for EZ inside the VSTi best to double check the documentation / help file for EZ.
