Hey folks, wondering if anyone has experienced this before...

I've got a Faderport that I've been using for some time now with no problems. I have it plugged into a powered USB hub (and of course the Faderport is plugged in as well). I've also got a few other items plugged into the hub, a LPK25 MIDI keyboard, an LPD8 MPC and a flash hard drive, all USB bus powered.

I use a Firestudio Mobile as my primary interface most often so that runs into my firewire port, but I bought a Focusrite Saffire 2i2 that I like to use when I do Livestream events, so I plug that into the USB hub as well and it is also powered by the USB hub. So for several weeks this has all been working just fine. But just yesterday I noticed that when I booted up S1 the Faderport was unresponsive. The transport didn't work, and the fader wasn't moving with the selected tracks. This was odd, so I started to unplug different things and noticed that when I unplugged the Focusrite interface from the hub, the Faderport started working again...when I plug it back in...it stops.

I can't figure out why this would happen because the Faderport is powered by it's own power brick, and the USB hub (which is powered, so plugged in) should provide plenty of power for the devices on the hub...Additionally confused because up until a few days ago this all worked fine...

If it isn't a power issue...then it must be some kind of driver issue, but I can't figure out why the 2i2 drivers would interfere with the Faderport in any way...

Color me confuse...

I've had strange issues with mine too. Then one day I figured it out. We've been having power brown outs. I've been on my PC and haven't noticed. My Faderport is not connected to the UPS. The sounds are off on the PC, so I don't get notified when a USB device is disconnected by power interruption, but everything else on the runs smoothly right through the brown out.

One does not want to see the wiring configuration.

I've got both the faderport and the USB hub plugged into a power conditioner/UPS but I haven't noticed any power issues in my house...I thought of that, but I don't think that's it...

I can't imagine why adding the single Focusrite interface to the HUB would cause a power issue with the Faderport, so I'm thinking it's some kind of strange driver interaction, but I have no idea how to test that theory...So I was wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar.

I would try to run the faderport into a seperate USB port and not into a USB hub.people have mentioned faderport working erratically at times when going into a USB hub on other faderport topics in the presonus forum.

Yeah...except I've been using this configuration for about two years now with no problems....The only change is the introduction of the interface.

I've pretty much highlighted what piece of equipment causes it...I just don't understand WHY.

I noticed that there were 2 usb audio device entries, the faderprt was number 1 but when the midi kit was connected it seemed to migrate to being number 2.....i changed this in the control surface settings, then it all worked again

I can see that happening to you. Periodically (maybe once every 6 months or so?) my Faderport would disappear from the driver list lol. (Same with my Korg padKontrol... but that does it much more frequently). I usually have to either plug it into a new USB port... or use Korg's driver config tool to delete the midi driver and reinstall (plug it back in).

Very weird. No clue why it happens.... but midi drivers do seem to interfere on Win 7.

What's even weirder is if I plug in my Kaossilator Pro to USB, power it on, and then start up my computer... it will not go to Windows! At all! It stays stuck on the part after the BIOS but before Windows boots. And the moment i turn off the Kaossilator.. Windows then magically boots up.

Somehow USB devices do some significant blocking behidn the scenes.

That sounds similar to what I'm experiencing...I'll have to check it out.

This sounds like you've got your computer to boot from a usb device...I know sometimes if I plug in a usb flash drive my computer will try to boot to that if I have the bios set that way.
