Any input. thoughts.. on fat channel settings when using a Voicelive 2?

Set it flat? Compression? Gate?

Thanks in advance

When ever I deal with these devices I like to get a (bypassed) direct mic feed and affected feed as well...Assuming your system is flat and decent sounding I only maybe use some mild eq (if necessary ) on the affected side, and treat the direct side as I normally would, with full FAT channel.

Cool... I have the extra channels to get that done.

I bet it ads a fuller sound with both.

Yes and sometimes the affected sound can start to get unstable...(usually the cheaper Digitech units) and start feeding back, I treat the affected signal strictly as an effect, and the Mic as a regular mic input... if the unit has a true in out bypass without anything in between.,..then that would be fine as the direct source...

I have found in church applications that rolling back the high's on the effect channel not only helps with some feedback but also gives depth to the effect, the clarity of the uninfected vocal input also lessens the strain on the singer to pronounce the words. its something that works for me so i wanted to share it.

Just want to point out that the "dry" signal from the VoiceLive 2 does carry any of the "Tone" processing, if enabled, which includes EQ, compression, gate, and de-essing. So, just be aware of that if you're applying more fat channel processing to it. Or, you can turn it off at the VL2, obviously, by just hitting the "Tone" button. The processing is pretty topnotch, though, even on the "adaptive" (auto) settings. I do prefer a little heavier compression, so I use a manual setting there.

I start my dip around 3k. but only on the Fx. Set the dry vocal channel to best sound then bring in the Fx. I saw this done in a recording studio and tried it in live. I was quite happy with the result.
