I thought I'd try the comping facility instead of cutting and pasting, my old method. But is it possible to convert my five vocal takes into layers so I can try it?

Create some empty layers and just drag the clips there?

In 2.5 you can right-click on the event and
Unpack takes > Unpack takes to new layers

EDIT: Oh! and if they're actually on separate "tracks" (as in the topic title), then what LMike said.
