After all the buildup and hype surrounding the 2.5 release - I thought I would dial it back for once and see what the fallout was. I am still concerned a about a few things - specifically the install method.

Seems that some folks are having nothing but issues installing over top of an existing install - while others are not. Some others are going with the "side-by-side" action while still others are completely wiping their environment (uninstalling S1) and starting fresh?

I current have a "working perfectly" install of 2.07 - it's fairly recent (DAW rebuild in mid Sept) and really would prefer a singular install (no side by side stuff with 2.07)

What's my best plan if I wanna join the 2.5 party? Just fire up over top of existing?

Appreciate any "intel" from the field

I'd say wait for 2.5.1 if your 2.0.7 install is running tip top. Not sure 2.5 was completely beta tested.

I have a feeling people with problems might say they had problems with it, and people that didn't will say it was fine for them.

So, it was fine for me.

Did you go right over top of an existing install? Or uninstall? Or "side by side" install?

While you may like the idea of us beta testing for you I have to say that there is no way to guarantee that if it works here it will work for you so I wont make that call.

I will say that even if you wait for 2.5.1, somebody here will come back and say "wait for 2.5.2 cause 2,5.1 is not working for me". Nothing wrong with that it's the nature of the problems when people use the software in different ways.

It's up to you when to jump in and if your to cautious that might be version 3 my friend.

Can't recall asking (or inferring) that you or anyone else "beta" test for me. But If that's what you feel like you are doing - that's your issue to sort out, pal.

Not overly cautious at all - just trying to see what the general vibe is - or what others thought before pulling the trigger.

I guess I should rephrase that, I meant that if your posting for advice on whether to go for the update, which I thought from your OP and title it would be a hard call, sorry if my semi dark humor offend's you, not my intention at all and not making any fun of you either.

No need to be offended, and if you were, most sorry.

I originally installed 2.5 through the program. Had a few issues with trying out the video in my Windows 7 64 and S1.2.5 Professional 64.
I asked Support if I should install by downloading the update first and they recommended that approach and stepped me through uninstalling my 2.5 first and then installing from a download instead of through the program.

So, if I were you, I would install it into a new directory from the download and then be able to check out 2.5 vs your existing. This has been noted many times on this forum and it is good advice if you are unsure how the update will respond to your system.

You have no idea what your talking about with that Beta test remark. Even 100 beta testers could not account for the tens of thousands of different machine configurations out there. Not everyone, with issues, is experiencing the same issues. I have an over 20 client base all with Studio One machines and most of the issues were resolved with a clearing of the Cache, deleting the Roaming profile or just a clean uninstall an reinstall. Things are tested to the best of anyone's abilities.
