I have to mix band on a house PA this coming Friday night. They have a StudioLive 24.4.2 and so do I. They will allow me to swap them.

Is there a way I can get the band's scene out of my console and into theirs?

I have a:
StudioLive 24.4.2
MacBook Pro
Airport Extreme router
iPad 2

Someone told me I need to buy a "thumbdrive"(?). I don't even know what that is. You all should know that I'm not very "computery". I had to have someone set up everything up so that I could mix with an iPad. I just turn it on and hope it works. I'm not good with computers so PLEASE reply in Sesame Street level language. Can you break it down step by step? I mean, "click on this - type this - now push this button" type instructions.

Thanks everybody!

Do you have the scene saved to your mixer or computer already?

I think so. This past Saturday night I clicked on "Get" and it looked like the scene names showed up in the right column. There were several that were not there though?

OK.

A thumb drive is one of those little USB tipped plastic sticks (usually about the size of a thumb)

plug it into your computer

open its folder

find your scene in VSL

Left click and drag to the thumb drive folder you just opened

then when you are at your friend's system

connect the thumb drive and open its folder

find and left click on the scene you want to use

drag it into VSL to a location that causes the entire VSL image to change colors

Release it.

mix through the night

There are some videos at the top of this webpage that can show you how to do everything step by step if you need them.

Test that out with your system and see if it gives ou any snags. That way we can help clear anything up ahead of time.

Hi Chip,
Can you bring your computer with you and plug it into their board?

If the answer is yes, you won't need a thumb drive, just follow these steps.

Plug your computer into the "source" mixer and run VSL.
Click the Get Button. All of the scenes will appear in the lower list box part of the browser.
Click the scene that you want to take with you and drag it to the top part of the browser. That will copy it to your hard drive.
When you go to the gig, plug your computer into the "target" mixer and run VSL
In VSL, drag the scene from the top section browser section onto the mixer section and drop it. That's all there is to it.

The one caveat that you need to be aware of is the version of the software you are using should be the same version they are using. If they are different, you will be prompted to update the board's firmware when you plug it into your computer. They probably won't appreciate it if you do that so you should find out in advance which version they are running.
