Any comments on the improvements to AmpireXT in S1-2.5? Haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Wow Mark that is some difference.

I've spotted a Mid/Treble issue on a few of the amps here:

Ari stated in the german forum that they had to decide whether to make the new version of Ampire have the same sound as before to be 100% compatible to songs that were made with Studio One 2.0.7 or to change it to make a new and better sound.

So if you want to have the same sound as before you should finish the song with version 2.0.7 or print the Ampire tracks with 2.0.7 and then proceed with it in 2.5.

Glad I didn't use Ampire much, yet...
Well, that's the way it is with software devices... every update can change the sound.

I never used Ampire much up until now except for very quick guitar lead ideas. I've always used Amplitube.

Looks like i'll be taking a new look to see if it's worth keeping it in house. Amplitube, though the CPU usage has been adjusted, is still a CPU hog by nature.

Yeah. Glad I'm not entrenched in it either. I did get a chance to hear it now, and I can't say I was blown away, but I prefer the Vox AC sound, and can't find a model that gets me there. There isn't a model that is supposed too, though, as near as I can tell.

Yes, but the last time they did a huge sonic change they created the legacy amps and cabs.

Why not now???

Otherwise the old ampire should be available in the list, don't you think?

Really?

Cus when I use Ampire it sounds like guitar amp, cab and stomp simulator. I do, however, have a VST designed specifically for what you're suggesting:

Very classy sounding amp simulations to my ears. There is a legacy button by the way....

Well, the upgrade completely messed with my sounds. Tried adjusting the new "trim" as suggested by some - no dice.

So I just did a system rollback. Gonna stick with 2.07 for now.

I messed with Ampire for a bit this afternoon. Too "fizzy" sounding for me except for clean sounds. I can tell they tried to make it a bigger sounding plugin. Still get better sounds using Revalver in Pro Tools & some of the models in Logic. Importing them into S1 is easy.

IMO, Presonus wasted a lot of time on Ampire & need to just junk it. Spend their time & resources on making a better compressor instead of a guitar sim. Of course, YMMV.

Actually while I was one of those who was indifferent to another Ampire upgrade upgrade I have to say it actually sounds good. I don't find it fizzy at all. That said, i don't go for really high gain tones I don't do the metal thing at all, just classic rock type tones. I get the saturation up there for some lead tones but never too crazy.
I can see myself giving this a shot at some tracks, I have guitar rig 5 which I normally use.
