To my understanding all versions of Studio One 2 is a 64-bit app when installed on a 64-bit OS (32-bit when on 32-bit OS).
ie. you have to install 64-bit Vstplugins on the 2 versions (producer and pro) that support 3. party Vstplugins.

Further:
When PreSonus says it is only Studio One 2 Professonal that is a 64-bit app/supports 64-bit, they are really talking about the internal Audio Processing?
Is that so?

If it is so, I think there are better ways to inform the users about this, than the current info.

I found out during installing Studio One 2 (both producer and professional) on different computers for me and 2 other friends (I'm my friends IT/Software support guy).

I've built my own studio computers for 15 years, but there is no mystery that many users are troubling when installing 3. party plugins when this matter is not spoken louder.

There are also a lot of users that not necessary have english as their native language.

On Windows there are two separate installers for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. You can install both and run both on a 64-bit OS. I have no clue how that all works on OSX though... but I have both installed on Win 7 64 here.

The other thing - double precision DSP processing - is only (again, afaik) activated with Pro, but it works in either a 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Pro in a 32-bit OS or a 64-bit OS.. It doesn't require a 64-bit OS.

As far as I can tell ... it appears that all versions of S1 - from Free to Pro - are all available as native 64-bit applications. But no, you can't turn on "64-bit precision" unless you have Pro.

Hope that helps.

You can install both versions of Studio One on Mac. Install it the first time and name it something like Studio One 2 64 under Applications. Then install again and name it Studio One 2 32. On each app instance right click on it and select Get Info. On the one named Studio One 2 32 make sure Open in 32 bit is checked. On the Studio One 2 64 make sure it's unchecked

Thanks guys. I found out during installation.

But my 2 friends in need called me and couldn't understand how to find their plugins. I directed them to the Location page under Options.
They couldn't solve it.
I found out that they where sure the had the 32-bit version installed and thereby had installed their trusty 32-bit plugins. They both had the 64-bit version installed

I will, in a day or two, help them to either install the 32-bit version in paralell or instruct them to get 64-bit versions of their plugins.

None of the above is especially easy over the phone, so hence my point with the initial post:

Make this information more clearly and accessible to people with minor to moderate computer skills.

As I said, I've put together my own computers for 15 years, and are educated in the IT field . So for me it is not a problem, but not every DAW user know that much.

So again, thanks guys. And I'll hope PreSonus make this a bit easier for beginners and such.

PS. I've found the video example and other posts in the FAQ section, because i know where and what to look for .
But my 2 friends didn't
