VSL Software sees no audio (no sound) but AudioBox does (can clip by turing up gain)

I'll start by saying this was a dumb problem i had but thought i'd share it before you reflash the firmware

Problem:
AudioBox hardware was receiving signal. I tested this by boosting the gain to make the clip light come on. But the VSL Software on the laptop was not seeing any audio and was not outputting audio.
-Meters were not registering anything.
-USB was connected
-Hardware had blue USB sync light which was correct.

Solution:
Turn ON the VSL Software. HUH? that right, the VSL software has a power button as well. In the top left of the screen where the presonus symbol is and it says "Audiobox 1818VSL". There is a screenshot to show what i'm talking about.

Try clicking on setup and doing a factory refresh. That's helped others.
