I just downloaded StudioOne demo and while playing with the parametric EQ, 17 knobs, mousing is a time consuming inaccurate drag. I checked out the FaderPort, that doesn't seam to do what I'm looking for? Would the Griffin Powermate work? Thanks.

Any USB controller or keyboard (with knobs) can have its knobs mapped to control effects. It is easy to do: turn the knob that you want to use then click on the knob you want it to control then just click link (top left hand corner above channel ident list).

Sometimes you have to create a new keyboard in the devices window and use midi learn feature.

We use M-Audio 25, behringer BCF and BCR 2000. But any controller will work.

Thanks. The Behringer stuff looks interesting at my price point.
Now for a really stupid question, Can a StudioLive 16.0.2 be used to control StudioOne?

No. Only talks to capture within Universal control.

The behringer stuff is OK, but the fader motorization is a bit juddery. You get what you pay for.

Thanks again. I would be interested in the BCR the most for dealing with EQ, comp, eff, etc. Would it be conceivable to use the BCR in conjunction with a FaderPort?

You should be able to use them in conjunction with each other.

It'll take some configuring on your part though.

And to expound on what Stroud said above, none of the StudioLive mixers are controllers for anything other than VSL, they are simply audio interfaces and mixers. Would be cool if they were but it hasn't happened yet.

I must be ahead of the technology...LOL...Not knowing my white hat from a dixie cup...Or sh*t from shinola as far as computer recording. Is/are there such devices on the market today? Not that I'm shying away from the goodness that is Presonus. If they do exist I would expect the $$$ component would be quite high?

So far the only Presonus controller is the FaderPort but you never know what these cats will come up with next.
