That's what I did. I use a 1/8" headphone extension cable with a 1/4" adapter on it for the 2408's headphone output and just plugged it into my desktop's audio card line input. I don't use the 2408's headphone jack anyway so I kinda just leave it there.

Actually ... in that graphic above for Jing's recording sources you can see the 2408's digital outputs as sources, on the windows wave driver. I can select those and record in Jing directly from those outputs without a cable patch but the audio has issues when I do that. It comes out like it was recorded at a different sample rate and it has dropouts. I tried to troubleshoot it for a little while with no solution so I just use the patch cable. Easier.

I'd say don't use the the computer's sound card at all!!! Just use the FSM. But I'm thinking now I'm talking to myself

Nah, I (we) hear you man, it's just a different method. I got tired of wrestling with ASIO4ALL doing that so with the patch cable there's nothing else to do but launch Jing and start recording, I don't have to change the audio driver for the studio or anything.

Obviously, your setup is a bit more complex with the picture in picture video and all that. I went the "Screen Recording for Dummies" route. The way your vids come out with the screen recording, annotation and video overlay is pretty slick though... me like.

I can't use the FSM because it's being used by S1. I've got a 2626 also but I can't figure out how to make it act like a separate interface when I plug it in. It only acts like a stacked unit with the FSM.

Ideally I could plug in my FSM and have Studio One use that as the primary interface and then use the FS2626 as my interface for Camtasia, but as soon as I plug in and power up the FS2626 it stacks itself with the FSM.

Now. I have a Line6 Toneport that I've run a line out from the FS2626 (plugged into the FSM) and set up a cue out to the toneport in S1. Camtasia is set to record from the toneport, and it works fine. The only problem is it's all line level so the audio being recorded in Camtasia is clipping quite badly, so my recorded audio sounds like crap.

Thoughts?

No, that's not true. I use my FSM all the time this way with no problems.

1. When Studio One is closed, open Camtasia first.
2. Then select the FSM's 1 & 2 inputs in Camtasia.
3. Then open Studio One.
4. Now, create a track in your song, hook up a mic and arm the new voice track.
5. Now you can record the video and have a voice track.

Remember, you're not going to record the voice track, just have it armed so you can hear your voice while messing with the song during the vid recording.

Have you tried that?

Yes I have. That was the first thing I tried. If I select the FSM as the input in Camtasia, and then open Studio One, Studio one will, apparently, take control of the FSM. At that point Camtasia doesn't pick up any of the audio from S1.

Mind you I'm not saying that yours doesn't work the way you're describing. My system just doesn't play that way. What drivers are you using? The Presonus ones? Or ASIO4ALL?

Related but separate. When I plug my 2626 into either the firewire port on the back of my FSM or into my extra firewire port on my laptop Universal Control automatically sees both of these interfaces as "stacked" and just combines them into one. Is there a way to use them as two separate interfaces? This way I could use one for Camtasia and one for S1 and route the audio between the two for a lot of recording power.

Any ideas?

You can't really separate them. If you just have the FSM hooked up, open up your UC and make sure it is set up just like this..
