Thanks. It looks much the same to me for using or editing layers, just with some minor UI differences.

The chord track otoh is pretty sick though. .) i could certainly find a use for that.

I wonder if a function that everyone is so unclear about could be considered an essential feature?

But what looks handy indeed, is the Re-Record Mode.
I can imagine using that a lot.

So I created a macro that does exactly that, actually quite simple.
Here are the needed commands:

1. Stop
2. Undo
3. Stop (returns cursor to original position)
4. Record

It also works if you have precount out pre-roll activated

Of course one could download the demo, and try it out...

Basically the comping + takes + stacked layering has become more flexible and more complex.

Bottomline - the facility is more powerful than S1 has in its present guise.

I don't like marketing tricks - rerecord function was already in Cubendo - I used it for ages as a macro - the same in Studio One. But now it is a marketing feature of C7.5. This update brings some good stuff to Cubase - it is a pity that as a Nuendo user I will have to wait for the new stuff for 6 months.

well for me it's just the track visibility and track versions. the rest is stuff for dj, electronic people, etc... which I don't need but I am forced to pay for at every upgrade. instead of focusing on workflow and professional use, they still pay more attention to the teenagers who pretend to be musicians just because they have a PC and couple of plugins. so, at every Cubase update, they release new synths, new toys, etc... and after 20 years we still don't have a function to split a stereo tracks to mono (SB made available this function only for Nuendo users...who knows why...), we need 100 clicks to export stems preserving mono tracks, etc...

True. My punch toolbar is shown below. Icons and macros are attached in the zip below. Bind the macros to 5 successive keys to use without the toolbar open.

Record opens the Record Panel and sets auto-punch with pre-roll and punches the loop. "Stop" also minimizes inactive lane heights (reducing that annoyance) while "Normal" & "Hide" does those things for inactive lanes, makes them normal for editing and closes them. "Re-Record" does an undo and immediately starts a new punch.

Enjoy.

guys i got to see 7.5 in action last night. Nothing there that would lure me back however the Chord Track really is impressive. Steinberg definitely deserve plaudits for that feature

Yes. Cubase Chord Track is very nice idea.
Load NI Kontakt, run guitar lib like a ACOUSTIC STRUM (ILYA EFIMOV), draw you chord and push Cubase play.
Simple way to make a good start for creativity.

I hope S1 v3.0 will have it.

Cubase Track Version - this is good and interesting idea too. Fresh vision...

Cubase 7.5 good DAW. Studio One too... Today Cubase is first, tomorow Studio One. This is endless process. I like S1 and today this is my favorite DAW.

For the reason that many users, who seem to find their outlet on the forum, are incapable of creating their own macros, and prefer the company to do it for them.
Case in point being the bounce-in-place facility.

Okay... let me wade in on this - as this comment borders on the snobbery, that a few ignorant users are prone to...

A professional software company creates solutions that benefit the MAJORITY of its users. It does not dictate who those users MUST be but does or should make an effort to determine, who in fact they are. This makes financial sense, and as per the definition of profession - paid to do something.

The industry standard for DAW users is not the large studios or small studios or any studio - its the person(s) with a legal license. if 18~24year olds DJs are the majority users ... fill in the blanks

Lastly - which professional profit making large studio, that used to record only country music will turn away $$$$ opportunity from JayZ, Rihanna, Armand van Helden etc.... just because they don't make the music they are used to?

of course you could - but then when the business tanks... don't lament the "changing industry"....

Here's a post I made at gearslutz about combining the new Track Versions and Lanes feature in Cubase 7.5.
This originally started in the Cubase forum with the intentions to gather ideas of how to incorporate a new and valuable (long sought-after) tool.

For me this is actually the best of both worlds.

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/cubase-7-nuendo-6/890212-c7-5-combining-lanes-track-versions-when-comping.html

Hope this balance things out a bit
