I've just tested 2.6 on recording session. Everything is good, new metronome setup is great and useful. I found a bug with drawing playback marker.
1) Put playback marker outside of the visible area
2) Try to click on timeline (to move playback marker) or set loop begin/end on visible area and jump to it by hotkey.
I hope, you understand this explain =)

that might be the biggest update for me. it's soooo annoying having the faderport but not being able to arm/disarm instrument tracks. wow... that changes the game lol. I'm not even being facetious. Workflow enhancements rock.

Lot's of great stuff Presonus - but ....

This:

Studio One 2.6.0 known issues:

- [OSX] Older iLok plugins may crash when loading on OSX 10.7 or 10.8

may be bad - do you have a list of what works and what doesn't?

I rely upon some plugins that are iLok'ed and I don't want to install the update and have it not work.

I would recommend installing 2.6 to a different folder to test. That way, you have both 2.5.2 and 2.6 loaded up. You don't necessarily need to "upgrade" your current version. You can have both installed at one time.

This is absolutely true for Windows. I'd imagine the same for MAC... but I never used MAC so...

On a Mac it is put in your applications folder, not a separate one. On the installer it as called Studio One 2 (no prefix). Run installer and drag as prompted into Applications folder. If you have something called StudioOne 2 there it will ask replace or keep both. Keep both and then go to Applications folder and rename it Studio One 2.6. Done. I have Studio One 2/2.5/2.52/2.6 there with no Issues.

Keyboard focus works great, but now I can't type time values in EchoBoy...

I'm guessing the Soundcloud thing is only for S1 Professional? I have Producer and I don't see anything about Soundcloud when opening S1 up and fiddling around. Weird since Nimbit is easy to find (although I don't care about Nimbit at all).

Too bad S1 becomes oriented only towards the people who record music and work strictly with audio tracks...but at the same time, people who do scoring, electronic music, a lot of midi work, etc...get totally neglected. Really bad...considering to switch back to FLStudio or go completely to Cubase.

Still no love for External MIDI module users... Even just GM and SysEx support would be good enough.

VST's are nice and all, but some of us would like to use our external synths.

Edit: Well, nevermind. It's there in the comparison chart the Soundcloud stuff is only for Professional. Whatever. Not much of a feature anyway.

I also agree with the post by detachment above. I hope they start implementing some scoring, electronic music, MIDI improvements for version 3.

You need to do a search for "Instrument Definition Manager" asap and download that tool.

Not sure if it will completely solve but... it's a great tool for selecting instrument patches. I used it a lot before I told off my JV1010 and Korg TR rack. Works fantastic for what it does.

I do light scoring. S1 works great after I lower the resolution of the video (since regular Quicktime doesn't trigger hardware acceleration... a-holes lol)

I'm guessing v3 will be a huge upgrade in that direction. Just a wild guess. But people have really been going hard asking for some non-linear tools and additional midi tools. No way they don't add it at some point. if they ever did... i would imagine it would be a paid upgrade like v3. Or maybe they get really really nice for 3.5. I dunno. Just speculating. They get asked for a song arranger maybe once a week lol
