Has anyone else had this problem? I have had this unit out of the box and set it up as the PDF file instructed( My Studio One Disc was blank so I had to DL it) I see no lights on the output ladder, I CAN see the channel clip indicator when I turn the volume up to 3/4 on that channel. Is it simply that I do not know what I am doing? or are the planets in line and set to destroy Trace? *LOL*
any help is welcome and I am very thankfull in advance.

Sincerely,

Tracy

Oh Yeah, on another note I am trying to take the main speaker outputs and plug them into my Yamaha EMX5000. I assumed, and perhaps wrongly, that requiring powered speakers meant that the outputs were -4/+4 and required the amplification before they could be played thru my rather large but unpowered Peavey speakers. Any help on that front would be awesome as well...after I get the output signal ladder to show that I am back in the saddle again.

Thanks again!

What kind of computer are we dealing with here?

And to your other question, yes, your speakers will need to be powered by some kind of amplifier.

Can you give us some more specifics on everything we are working with here? It'll help.

Yeppers!
we are dealing with a computer that I built a few years ago with dual Processors running XP Professional SP3 with lots of Ram and a whole buncha free HD spaaaaace. I already cured half my problem, I downgraded the Audio Box drivers as the forum suggested and then I turned off one of the processors. This allows the output meter to work(AKA Make funny lighted smoke stack goes up! and comes dooown... HOWeva! I am still not hearing anything through my Bose earphones when I jack in . I accomplished finding the dual processor shutoff location at abot 4 am. I am thinking about re-installing the latest AudioBox driver but there is an old saying.. "If it works dont $#%*& with it"

SO: what we have is a machine (Presonus Audionbox 1818VSL with all the nifty lights working again but no sound come out of earphones.

as for the speakers, This presonus is just an accessory so that we can record while playng, on a disc

My main mixxer board for live sound that drives the 1000w system is a Yamaha EMX5000. Hence, I would like to jack into the presonus and then uplink to the Yamaha to provide the needed power to feed my speakers

Thank You so much for offering to help me. I have installed hundreds of 802.2,/3 /Glass ,/wifi...you get the picture when it comes to computers but sound seems to have its own set of rules.

You can scratch this problem off the wall or consider it "User Repaired" In any event, I have absolutely everything working now.

Thank You to all who offered help and those of you who may have been trying to recreate my scenario to trouble shoot. You techs never get enough Kudos from us end users. You are very much needed and I thank all of you.

Peace signs as I enter Air Force 1 for the last time....I AM NOT A CROOK! *LOL*

OK so we have a functional device. That's a good start.

To get the audio on the headphones you need to set the channels you want to go to them up.

In VSL there are several horizontal bars above the sliders for the individual channels. Find the bar labeled 7 and slide to the right for the channels you want to feed to the headphones.

Make sure output 7/8 is turned up at the slider, then play the audio, and turn up the headphones knob, and it should come out the headphones.

The process is the same to get it to the mixer. Just substitute horizontal bars 3/4 or 5/6 for the information above.

Hope that helps.

Hi there,

I am having the same exact problem. I followed every steps in headphone routing from the video, but it's still not working. The main output light meter isn't working, even my computer says the 1818VSL doesn't have audio output. In AudioBox VSL DAW1&2 are linked and the meter is working, 7&8 out too and the main meter is working , but I can't hear a damn thing. Please help. I have a 13" Macbook Pro with Retina Display 4GB. OSX v10.9.1. How did you fix it Tracy?

Thanks!

Check your levels in Applications/Utilities/Audio-Midi Setup. Reseat the USB cable.

Oh, would you look at that! I've been stuck with this exact problem for the last 2 days, and been far too close to ripping my beard out in frustration, as I was so damn sure I hadn't overlooked anything. Well, if it's as simple as "it won't work with your computer", I'll just take my name off of the "top ten stupidest men alive"-list again, and give Apple the blame instead. That's a relief - kind of ...
Anyway, thanks a lot for the link, ryanalim. That cleared up a lot for me!

Apple has made a fundamental design change in their latest release of computers including the iMac series 14,1 and 14,2 (late model 2013), Apple MacBook Air 6,2 (late model 2013) MacBook Pro (11,1 - 13"::11,2 - 15" :: 11, 3 - 15 ") (released October 22, 2013) and Mac Pro 6,1 (released late 2013) are incompatible with PreSonus AudioBox VSL-series products. The aforementioned MacBook Pro, iMac, MacBook Air and Mac Pro models will not work with the AudioBox 1818VSL in either mode with VSL software installed or in class-compliant mode with no VSL software installed. We suggest using a different computer with the AudioBox 1818VSL. Our Engineering Team is actively engaged in fixing this issue and we expect to have an update available in the coming months. We will be delivering frequent updates on the status in our community forum here: http://forumsarchive.presonus.com/posts/list/0/45870.page
