Don't think the price point is to compete with the studio live, but its interesting to see what other companies are doing to "improve" mixing desks....

Geez... like we don't have enough to worry about... now we have to run lights as well...
Just sayin...
and yes, I have done it.. we all probably have..
Just because we CAN doesn't me we should HAVE to...that just becomes one more thing added to our workload that we are NOT going to get paid for !!!
Where is it going to stop?
I say "RAGE... RAGE against the supplying of the light!"

If you look at it, the lighting functions are very simple. Level and color. Purpose looks to be just for small one man shows, where you can control your two light trees without buying/carrying a dedicated controller rig.
The other specs (over and above the si compact) are impressive:
-TWO 64i/o expansion slots for MADI, extra AES, Cobranet, and an upcoming Dante card.
-80 inputs to mix!
-8 VCAs
-8 Matrices
-8 Mute Groups
-24/32 Mic Pres, 8 Line inputs, for a total of 32 or 40 physical inputs on the desk
-4 Fully configurable fader layers
-LCD for names and metering on every channel
-4 freely assignable insert loops
-Pre/Post selection per input per bus
This will cause trouble in a good marriage.
When I am asked to run some lights as well at a show, my wife comes along to control the lighting desk.
I see us fighting over the desk at the end of the evening to access the controls .
And, exactly like Gadget wrote, it will be another thing we will be asked to do, and don't get payed for.

The cool thing about it, in addition to the built in 30CH DMX controller is that one input can be routed to two channels for independent processing. So you can use completely different and discreet EQ, Compression, Effects on the FOH channels and MON channels.
That is also true of the Si Compact, though this Si Performer has more inputs to mix so you can double up more channels. Its a standard feature of higher end digital consoles.
