let's say i have a midi track that's 2 minutes long and want to copy it and make it a total of 5 minutes how do you do that? i hit command c and then command v but when i try to crop the beginnig of the track that has empty space i can't seem to crossfade it and when i play the full track the original plays but when i get to the copied track i hear nothing. also i can't seem to crossfade tracks. i'm coming from reaper where i think it's a little different.

So far everything you describe here works just fine on my end (and I know that's not very helpful) but let me ask what version of S1 you are on. That was an issue early on, if I recall correctly.

You can hit 'D' to duplicate the midi track. Cropping is just a matter of going to the start of the midi clip and placing the mouse over it. The cursor should change to an arrow shaped cursor. Click and drag. Crossfading midi tracks? Just drag them on top of each other. If you are referring to cross-fading audio, just put to audio parts on top of each other and hit 'x' to create a cross-fade (ctrl+x to autofade).
