Thanks guys! Say ADM, mind sharing what make/model you have? Obviously it must be the TI chipset if it's running so well - I have first hand experience in the results of other makes....... (Long ago corrected )
Thanks again - any other takers?

Thanks Matthew - just went out checked the specs, sure enough the TI chipset.
One last question - are you running an external data drive, and if so do you run it from (I'd assume) the other firewire port on the startech, or just via USB from the laptop? Or do you just record to the main lappy drive?
Thanks buddy!

I just record to the internal drive. I am still somewhat portable with my rig. Sometimes you have move locations to record drums. At this point, my laptop is my only pc. Eventually I will have a workspace to configure a desktop. I don't do very much with midi, vsti's or things like that, so the internal drive hasn't proven to be a problem yet.
Just be careful with the card itself. Right where the card is attached to the input jack assembly is very prone to bending. Have issues periodically, and sometimes have to place something under the card to support it and stay connected. I was keeping the card in the front pouch of my bag, and it was damaged. If you have a similar situation, try and locate an eyeglass case of that size to keep the card in, and avoid having the same problem.

Thanks Matt - and everybody! Appreciate the info (and yeah Johhny, I'm still exploring options....)
If I go the lappy route, I'll probably experiment with outboard drives - I've always taken it as gospel not to record to the system drive, but maybe I'm wrong or things have changed enough w/buss speeds and such.
Thanks all!!
