Hello Fellow Audiologists,

So I've finally completed my master's degree. WOO! The point not being to brag but more to call on the folks here to help me out with a "project" I'm continuing now that I have some more free time:

I'm looking for input on what people would like to discuss regarding anything related to audio production. Whether that be music, sound design, mixing and/or mastering discussions...whatever. I won't know the answer to everything of course, but I love to research and I'd love to provide a real time forum for people to get together and both ask questions and pass along information.

In short, what are some topics that people would like to see discussed in an hour long webcast? Respond here and I'll add the topics to my list and publish a running schedule of when I'll be doing a show.

Thanks for the input and I look forward to hearing what folks are interested in (and to the challenge of helping them!).

- Gizzmo

You're not kidding. It's a lot of work! I'm just left with a constant feeling that I should be doing some kind of homework or reading...lol.

My second also, equally glad to be done!

Well double congrats then!

Funny thing is I still take a course or two a year at a local community college just because I feel lost after all those years of school. It's weird to just take courses because I feel like it.

On topic, I would love to see zero latency explained better. It's just one of those topics that escapes me. I guess I'm just spoiled with good performance on my Mac to where I don't much notice latency.

My top 2 would be

1. Recording and mixing vocals

2. Mastering songs so that they have the same volume and dynamics through out a cd or digital release

Congrats to both of you guys for finishing what you started!

Cool! Zero latency I can definitely go over, that's not a difficult one to cover, I'll add that to the topics.

Tracking and mixing vocals is one of the hardest things to do well, so I'd love to cover how I do it. I have a few of my own tracks I can use as well as some examples from other multitrack projects. Added!

And mastering is a strange concept these days...something I can certainly go over, that will be more of a discussion, but I do have a lot of helpful and useful thoughts on the process.

I'm thinking that next week starting on Tuesday evening (US Central Time) say about 6:30 pm I'll be doing a live webcast on three topics of interest.

If other folks have additional topics please let me know!

Yes I realize that's a very US specific time. However all of the webcasts will be recorded for future watching. Also I'll look into some other times on weekends or otherwise for our non-US folks.

The summer NAMM show is on the 13th (Friday) I was planning on doing it on Tuesday evenings as a start with a possible Thursday night show as an addition. Just to be clear. I don't really intend to focus SPECIFICALLY on Studio One things only. The Presonus live guys have that job. Mostly I'll be talking general audio and music things like DAW techniques in general or even topics like music theory.

I'll stay out of Presonus' way with regards to their live shows

Well done with your degree, Gizzmo0815
Just imagine being able to have this view in s1, for multiple lanes at the same time, better than the multi lane midi editor, which is more for orchestral arrangent, and bare in mind you cant beat this for drum sequencing also, its a must have view.
Cubase edit in place

sonar inline piano roll

and a few others Daws also have this editing feature.

Ok, could you do a discussion on the signal flow that audio takes once it enters and exits studio one. I think people would find it interesting to see where the signal stops off on its journey and where it stops first.
How will we be notified that the show is starting?
