Ok guys I made a thread in which you can request a feature(s) that Sonar has but S1 doesn't.

Write/Request what you think it's worth adding in S1.

Thanks.

I wish we had a bitbridge utility in S1. I also wouldn't mind an instrument/effects rack like Chainer to stack VST's and effects.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to request Presonus add all the bugs from Sonar that haven't been addressed for 10 years, just so I feel at home again.

i agree! i just paid for the full version of S1 and i'm done with sonar....i've been using it since pro audio 7 so it is a bit of a bummer to have to leave it, but since they refuse to fix some things, i think i've been extremely patient!

I still use 8.5.3 but I'm more in tune with Studio One's workflow, every time I open Sonar I have remember how it work's. Oldfartdum I guess.

I just got tired of Sonar crashing or hanging up just because I tried to do something as simple as delete a track that I wasn't using while the audio engine was running. Little things and big things alike annoy people to no end. I'm sorry I spent 400 dollars on it because I hardly ever use it since I bought S1. Lots of people can't even get Melodyne to work w/X1. I want to use X1 but its so annoying and time consuming that I'm not productive.

Yep - X1 was the straw that broke this camel's back... I was relatively happy with 8.5.3, but looking back, I just got used to working with it - even with all the idiosyncracies.

I had high hopes for X1. I'd felt that the Sonar codebase was just bogging itself down as more and more bits of crap got bolted onto it. I really thought that X1 would be a break away from that old codebase and the start of something smooth, new and fresh.

Instead, all the bloatware was still there, but they'd changed all the key commands, menu layouts and all the little things that used to make me fly along with it. With no performance benefit and forced to essentially learn to use a new DAW, I thought - to hell with it - what else is out there.

Luckily for me, that was just as S1 v2 was about to be released. I was astounded at how simple, elegant and powerful it was. I bought it a couple of days after release and am continually astounded at the quality and the update release schedule. A lot of the refinements introduced would have been held back for major version upgrades back in Sonar land...

Either way, I'm now a happy-camper. The only time I ever open Sonar anymore is to export songs out of it so I can tweak and refine in S1!

Loving it. Making music is now just a hell of a lot more fun and a lot more productive!

yeah, same here. when X1 came out i'd already decided to dump it because my reasoning was, with having to learn a new set of keyboard shortcuts, it was a new program anyway and i'd just gotten tired of the flakiness of the audio engine. i tried reaper but it was just too weird, instead of being creative, i'd spent most of my time trying to figure out how to make it work. i ended up going back to X1 but then ran into the various envelope issues (and their seeming inability to fix these bugs). X1D was really the final straw, where, instead of fixing things, they just added more prochannel plugins.

trying out the demo of S1, after only a couple of weeks with it, it's been pretty intuitive where really the only thing that i had to do is figure out what the keyboard shortcuts are.

one thing i miss from X1 is the playback of non-acidized loops at the project tempo. mind you, it took cakewalk about 15 versions to implement that (i think it was only X1 that finally did this), so hopefully that'll be something that S1 adds.

I am looking to move to another DAW if one piques my interest.... and Studio One certainly does.

I am a tad tired of Cakewalk not acknowledging "showstoppers" and the userbase being a bit stubborn and blaming user's lack of knowledge. When the time-based plugin issue came out with X1d, I started looking around. I'm tired of wasting time. Melodyne is something I use every single song I put out. Studio One is integrated... so... haha

Anywho, just saying hello to converts and kinda hoping others will push me to jump ship and grab Studio One. $400 seems like a bit of cash to spend, but X1 is truly pulling at my last straw with this having to 'bounce to tracks' crap with a plugin I use every day.

Look at it this way: S1 is more reliable, and if getting things done is job 1, then get S1. You can always toy with X1 when you've got extra time. I use both, but hardly spend any time with X1 anymore.

Just curious, what kind of issues were you having with Sonar?

269 € in Germany. Once you tried the S1 demo you can never go back...

that was my experience! after all my years of dealing with a quirky audio engine and numerous workarounds, it was such a pleasure to use something that just "felt" stable
