No release is ever perfect and there is only so much bandwidth on any dev team. V2 has so much goodness in it - I am only starting to explore it. The one big thing I hoped for made it in, but some smaller things did not and I'm sure everyone has their list.

The big ones on my list:

Improving the marker system. It looks like it has not changed. It's still small, has tiny tiny text and even though it is a 'track', it cannot be moved or re-ordered (so that I can place it just above a track).

I cannot annotate midi notes or mid tracks in any way.

There is no expression system (for keyswitching).

I'm sure these aren't high on most people's list, but as I compose I like to document what I'm doing and I'm sad that the best tool on the market today doesn't let me do that effectively.

I expected the freeze feature (Transform to Audio) to not trash all my hard work with automation and modulation when unfreezing a CPU heavy synth track.

I'm not sure I understand your complaint. It sounds like you automated a transformed track and then unfroze it and was surprised when it undid the automation??

I was hoping for better effects for mastering (EQ, Limiter and Compressor). Someone started the rumour some trime ago that V2 will have PSP effects. I just recently sold all my Waves and UAD stuff because they are not 64-Bit. Well, looks like I have to buy PSP now.

Overall the upgrade is pretty cool for $99.00. I didn't even have melodyne, always planned to. So that's already worth the upgrade price.

I expected it to look a lot more like all the webinars and demos.. haha.. I thought I saw a Melodyne in the toolbar..? I'll have to keep playing with it, but now I'm getting a "your version of Melodyne isn't compatible with S1-2 x64.. but I can drag it around like a plugin, etc.. I'm sure it's a PICNIC error...?
Thanks, Merci, Gracias!

Some kind of color control over clips, midi and audio, like being able to invert the colors, Light green waveform or midi over a dark green clip... a la the latest version of FL studio.

No, I didn't automate a transformed track. I automated a regular Instrument Track and then transformed it to audio (freeze). When I then choose Undo or to transform it back to an Instrument Track (unfreeze), all previous automation for that track is lost. Of course I'm aware of the "Remove Instrument" checkbox, and that works as expected with automation that is "part of the recording/playing" so to speak. For example, if I play a synth lead and move the mod-wheel, those movements will be recorded. When I freeze to audio and later unfreeze back to instrument again, the original mod-wheel movements will be there again. It's just the additional and manually written/programmed automation directly on an Instrument Track that is lost in the unfreeze producedure.

However, I have now discovered a way around this problem that only requires a change in my workflow, so I'll investigate that way in more detail and report back on this issue later. Maybe I've missed something here...

It had my biggest need - multi-track MIDI editing. But I would definitely love to see some form of MIDI expression. For now, I set my key switches according to playing velocity - typically just 2 or 3 like legato 0-75, staccato 76-127 (with violins and cellos I usually drop portamento in between @ 41-75) - then I control dynamics with CC-1 (modwheel). For more complex parts I play everything in either legato or staccato then add more patches to different velocities and manually adjust the velocity in the editor. I get funny looks when I show others how I compose but it works for me for now.

Annotation would be a big plus too.

Lastly, some video track love in 64-bit. Apple has no plans to release a 64-bit QuickTime - wish Presonus would forget QuickTime only and move forward.

I know I sound like I'm complaining, but I really am happy with v2. This weekend I will put it through its paces with a new comp. If everything works out, and I have no doubt it will, I'll finally be down to one piece of DAW-ware.

I was really hoping for the ability to print tracks to a new audio track like I could with PTHD. But I did get the solid metering I requested. Damn the metering rocks!
